The Alchemist - For Love Lost

If I could learn that dark necromancy: to conjure from base iron purest gold to dance in crested foam upon the sea a falling star within five fingers hold -- Then could I cast the spell o'er my bright love Enraptured, captured, yet set free to fall upon his willing prey: a falcon o...Read more

No More Golden Handshake

Oct 01, 2008 01:12 AM

Hi Umesh And that's not the worst of it -- Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson himself was given 700 million dollars in salary, stock, and bonuses in Goldman Sachs, one of the primary beneficiaries of the bailout plan--had it succeeded. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=aUj_9.k1...3q7s&refer=home Having worked for the Federal Reserve, I trust Ben Bernanke. He is a scholar, especially one who has studied the Great Depression of the 1930's. But Paulson? The definition of a good politician is one that, when bought, will stay bought. So I guess that makes him a good politician. BTW in case anyone is wondering, it is the Republicans who killed the bailout package in the Congress, not the Democrats. Please God, let Obama win.Read More

I love Bush don t you

Well, Now you will know how I will vote Nov. 4th We had the first Presidential Race debates on Friday, September 26. As of Saturday, September 27 Race Poll Results Spread Iowa Rasmussen Poll: Obama 51, McCain 43 Obama wins by 8 National Gallup Tracking: Obama 49, McCain 44 Obama wins by 5 Na...tional Rasmussen Tracking Obama 50, McCain 44 Obama wins by 6 National Hotline/FD Tracking: Obama 48, McCain 43 Obama wins by 5 No offense, but I seriously hope y’all are being satirical about our primate of a President and his war crimes buddies. The America I love doesn’t torture people, doesn’t randomly invade countries; Obama’s economic plan includes breaks for the suffering middle class; he’s more of a mediator than a ’’Well, if they don’t agree with us, let’s go invade them’’ kind of guy. A study reported in the New York Times showed that under Democratic presidents ’’a rising tide raises all boats’’, that is: all classes and types of businesses prospered, both upper, middle and lower; big and small businesses alike. Under Republican presidents, only the top 2% of individuals and businesses prospered! OK, if I disappear again, you will know the CIA reads this website.... :-(Read More

Broken Bones and Mended Relationships

It's not often that I get to go to the opera, so when my friend Betty called me and told me that she had tix to the world premier of the new opera based on Amy Tan's novel, The Bonesetter's Daughter, I jumped at the chance to go! Actually, this was the final dress rehearsal before the premiere. A...Read more

The touch of an Angel :-) It took the touch of our very own Angel, and the work of Faisal and Jasmine behind the scenes, but now we have new gifts and, of course, our own lovely people to share them with! :-) Thank you, Angel, for your excellent suggestions and providing a forum for others to share ...in the process. C'mon everybody, Three Cheers for Angel!!! :-DRead More

Wonderful people are hard to find...

Sep 06, 2008 10:19 PM

THANK YOU SO MUCH ANGEL!!! :-) Oh, no, it seems that I am always the last one to the party... and this time is no exception... Thank you so much for this beautiful and so very kind tribute to my friend (for it was for Derrick that I was writing) and for me. I cherish your friendship, your love, you...r trust and your kindness so very, very much. As it so happened, without going into details, on the very day you posted this, I was going through one of the most trying days of my life, through a legal/ business proceeding that had a lot hanging on it. I was harried and worn out from lack of sleep and felt myself fading. Somehow though, I gained a sense of courage and calm amidst the storm. I would like to believe, and I DO believe that it was your loving thoughts & feelings, coming across the oceans that strengthened me in my hours of need and dread. It is always a wonderful thing to be appreciated, even a kind note in my mailbox, or a little gift will lift my spirits all day. But to have a whole diary entry committed to me! This is a great HONOR, and I thank you sincerely from my whole heart. You are a wonderful person, MS is a wonderful community, and guess what, I'm glad we found EACH OTHER!!! ((((group hugs)))) MarilynnRead More

(Updated Sep 01, 2008 02:59 PM)

After some deliberation, I’ve decided to place this “review” in the diary section rather than in the review section through MouthPad. “Marrying Anita: A Quest for Love in the New India” felt so relevant to my own life that I didn’t think I could give the book the distance it deserved for a dispassio...Read more

WITH ONE HELLO...

Aug 30, 2008 10:32 PM

Such a beautiful post Hi, Angel, This is so true. Sometimes it takes a loss (like that of a friend, or boyfriend) or a death, like that of a relative to make us realize how much we really cared for someone. Case in point -- a young man in my ''young adult'' church group -- healthy, a pilot, recent...ly planned to be married, worked out steadily, died quietly in his sleep. No drugs, nothing sinister, the Lord just took him and his heart stopped beating. His fiancee and mother were crushed. The whole church group was in shock. I e-mailed his fiancee and offered my skills as a meeting planner to help with the funeral. She graciously declined but invited me. Our whole church group came. The church was packed with people. The simple, but heart-felt service had me crying, even though I hadn't known D____ that well, I felt so deeply for his loss, b/cause he was always so positive, so kindly and so thoughtful. And also, he loved M_____, his fiancee so much. Now, he was gone. His bouncy presence would never more be felt amongst us. His views on Scripture would never more be heard, although I think we all felt that now, we had a special angel watching over all of us.Read More
