Thanks Ajith for reading my review and taking the time to comment. Three days after watching the movie, I still feel it is a very good movie and everyone who enjoys cerebral movies should go and watch it. It is not the classiest movie ever made, but it is an excellent effort nonetheless, full of pai...nful detail. You will enjoy it.Read More

Nice description of characters :) Keep rocking. Just one thing though - You have used 'in and as' in a wrong manner. When you write 'in and as', the 'in' is used when the name of the character is also the name of the movie. For example, you can say Anil Kapoor in and as Mr. India. This is because... Anil Kapoor is IN the movie Mr. India and also AS the character Mr. India. However, here, for example, Rishi Kapoor in and as Romy Rolly doesn't work. Rishi Kapoor is AS the character Romy Rolly, but he is not IN the movie named Romy Rolly. Hope you get it :) Otherwise, great language and an excellent review! NeilRead More

I personally feel that Luck By Chance is a very refreshing way at self-mockery. It neither delves into cheap satire as Om Shanti Om did nor does it become apologetic about poking fun at the industry which has given it birth. It stays on neutral ground. India hasn't seen such a genre of self-reflecti...ve movie, I think. That is one of Luck By Chance's greatest strengths. NeilRead More

Yes KnottyGuy, these potshots are done more endearingly, befitting someone who has been in the industry since birth :)

Shalu, thanks for reading my review and giving your valuable comment on it. Could you tell me the point in my review that you most strongly disagree with? I would like to see how our thoughts differ :)

Yes Raj, go and watch the movie by all means. It is a good insightful movie, but don't expect something to happen on screen every minute. The movie gives you time to ponder on things as it goes along.

What is most interesting about Hindi cinema today is the way they are taking potshots at themselves. We had Om Shanti Om do that last year and this year it is Luck By Chance doing it right in the face. With the "awakening" of Hindi cinema, the new breed of directors has probably understood thing...Read more

I have never liked Akshay because he can't act! But his movies certainly have some entertainment value. Thank God I did not go for CC2C as I was planning to do on the first day because of a cousin's wedding. Now I really thank that cousin for picking that date :) I am really floored with the nega...tive criticism this movie has got. Can a movie really be that bad? Shekhar Suman, His Hamminess himself, has gone on record to say that Akshay Kumar should apologize to the whole nation for acting in such a movie! I may catch a few scenes of the movie just to see how bad it is! Lesson learnt (reinforced actually, we have already learnt it in the past) - Never judge a book by its cover and never judge a movie by its pre-release hype!Read More

The Day The Earth Stood Still is a legendary example of how a wonderful original classic can be made pointless and insipid in its remake. The original 1951 movie had a message of how human violence is meaningless and can only bring about destruction of their own species, but this 2008 remake doe...Read more

Hello, You are right about the list of interesting scenes at the end. I personally did not like the Dhoom scene much, that was only for keeping the interest alive - the movie was dragging at that point. But I really liked the first 15 minutes. The tension was so thick you could cut it with a knif...e. Overall, a good movie and I would not mind watching it again also. NeilRead More

Ah no problem :) You can pick my brains about the review I am going to post today also, on The Day The World Stood Still. Don't worry, I have an inexhaustible supply of brains waiting to be picked ;) Good day at work to you too, my friend.

'Also are you aware that only some portions of the film has been actually shot in the Golden Temple city of Amritsar.... Quite a bit has been shot on sets erected at various locations at film city and helipad!!!' What I mean to say is that the plot of the movie does not move out of Amritsar. ...I am not talking about where the shooting is done. You really are a fault-picker, aren't you? I know a friend who lives for that. I love being with him by the way. It helps me assert myself :) Read More

Okay, songs never make a film for me. I take them as a completely disjoint set and frankly speaking, Hindi songs never impress me. I am more into Guns N' Roses and Aerosmith. But I had to say that the movie has used its song sequences nicely and they hold your interest.

'You still maintain that the plot is unusual and praise the way Adi has handled it.... I am totally confused!!' My dear friend, a good director can twist an insipid plot on its face and make it seem good. It has happened so many times in the past. A weak plot, but a brilliant director and a good ...film out of that. Take Lamhe. If someone narrates the plot to you, you will say 'Kya bakwaas hai' but the way it is directed, it is beautiful and you even believe in it. That's my point. Neil PS: At the same time, I am NOT saying the plot is good. It has just been directed well. The story is bad, but the screenplay is good. Hope that helps :) Read More

Ah, there you are wrong. SRK does not have a split persona here. The movie is not about schizophrenia. The intention is to FOOL Taani into believing that these are two different people. Why don't you watch it and then we talk about it more? ;)
