Congrats for the ROTD! Aww i am missing this one. Would have loved to see it. I usually watch the cookery shows that are aired here in the local TV, but most of the things we cant have or wont suit our kind of taste, so I just watch it just like that. Nice review once again. Keep penning. ... BarnaliRead More

:) Nice puja experience. During the pujas, especially if u sit at the pandal for some hours you are bound to meet so many different characters who make your day. Seriously its amazing to see this much of devotion from a young boy. But true its the devotion that matters not the elaborate rituals. ... Nice post. Keep penning. BarnaliRead More

Contd... Last but not the least, as Sajit has also mentioned, without MS, Rainbow would have never come into being. Whatever bitter-sweet relationship we share with this forum, still it's this place that gave us a platform to express our thoughts and we could make some of the most precious relations...hips out here. Thanks for gifting us this amazing moment where we are getting the oppertunity to see our work being reviewd by one of the classiest reviewer of the forum. PS: Sorry for dropping by so late, was very busy with professional obligations. Regards, BarnaliRead More

The comment I had planned to write: --------------------- Wow..Ahhh is this the reality? Goodness..I am so excited seeing our own hadwritten novel review getting the status of ROTD! Last year this time I remember we were busy pushing each other to finish the novel by the month of november. We had gr...own so much lethargic that our deadline to finish the novel was getting delayed with each passing day. From that day we have come a long way, and finally its just on the verge of being published. The journey right from conceiving the idea of Rainbow, to the drawingboard, to the publishing process had been truly an enriching one. We learnt a lot from each other and a lot much from the reviews on our work. And we are still learning and will continue to do so with each and everyone's input. Emotional attachment will always be the same for Rainbow, even after many years down the line. Sajit has already mentioned the latest development from our end that the publishing has been pushed back by a few weeks. Cover page is also being reworked on after the suggestions coming from our readers. Vijay is working hand and glove with us for the cover design. Also a few of our very dear MSians are helping us out in coming up with the final draft in more ways than one. Paul, what to say, seriously you flagged off the review chain in MS with such an amazing review. The effort you had put in for coming up with the all important critical view on Rainbow, is helping us to get things corrected for the final manuscript. Hat's off to you! Seriously we are indebted to all you guys who believed in our work more than ourselves! Through your eyes we saw our Rainbow in a totally new color. Every moment spend for this effort has been made fruitful by you guys who gave our dream, wings to fly. Contd...Read More

Ahhhh was never expecting this! It’s much much more than a ’pleasant’ surprise I had come to know from Paul’s review comments that the mystery woman was none other than our own angie :) But due to the technical glitch of MS over the weekend, I couldnt respond to anything.But after knowing I was like... but of course it should have occured to me before that the insanely romantic woman cannot be anyone other than you! Work is taking a huge toll on me for the past one week, spending hardly 12 hours at home. Net surfung has become a luxury now. No doubt I wasnt aware of the review on Rainbow. After reading Sajit’s mail I was wondering, what would be the review about, and then I get the answer here.WOW! Seriously never thought anyone would pen a review on our efforts. What an acknowledgement. This once again proves, the great support and love we have from the MS fraternity.I think this review would become a part of the official campaign for our book. We are greatly honoured by this gesture. Every time you guys are mentioning about Rainbow anywhere, it leaves us with a greater responsibility to make Rainbow a worth read. And we are working on it. And not only the two of us, but another wonderful friend of ours(whose name will be revealed in due time) is helping us out tremendously in the final content editing activity. Mostly by the end of this month, the book will be out. Let your prayers and wishes be with us. Thanks again! BarnaliRead More

++ Have a heart ++

Sep 30, 2010 07:59 AM

hummm First thing, you associated the heart with feminine charm, fine. But here I would like to say that indeed the heart compares to a female only, as it has the extreme capacity to endure so much stress that we subject to it every moment. And for your case the heart must be a super woman to adjust... to your extreme lifestyle. Making fun about mortuary is one thing and landing up there is another. The fun ends there itself. Consider this as a wake up call to take care of your health. Sorry for once I didnt find this writeup funny. It's high time, you really gave a thought of where you are heading this early in life. Takecare of your heart!Read More

Mathurji, Since you mentioned in reply to Hemani that your comment was due to one of my comment. So here one thing I wanted to clear out - When I had written ’’we got so many wonderful and constructive feedback from everyone’’ the word ’wonderful’ didnt mean I was referring to any sugar coated feedb...ack given to us. On the contrary, it means whatever feedback was given to us by so many of our friends, whether praise or criticism were taken in account and modifications were being done mainly based on the cons pointed out by everyone. You can confirm the same from everyone that we had offered our work to. BarnaliRead More

3. Ideally a review should not divulge things at the minutest length and breadth, so that the readers are left with no imagination at all while reading the actual novel and that too especially if the novel is going to be published in future. A reviewer should realize the sensitivity of how it can af...fect a yet-to-be-published work if every single twist and turn is mentioned. Definitely its an individual choice whether to give out the whole story or keep a mystery in it, so that the reader is intrigued by the review. We would never lay out a set of rules for that. But just because of the fact that this review let’s out the entire story in one shot, I am not including it as a link in our website as it may affect the marketing aspect because people would have nothing left to their imagination. 4. Definitely the subject doesn’t cater to a larger public who are not well acquainted with how a private sector works. So many things would look like a shallow buildup or superfluous. But new age professionals who are encountering more weird situations in real life would easily identify where we come from. CB became an icon because he let the world know the reality of IITs. Ravi Subramanium’s If god was a banker became an instant hit cause he delved into the banking sector which people never knew. And that’s exactly what we wanted to let people know though our work. To introduce them to a world wherein people reach peaks in no-time but to maintain that, they have to encounter the new age syndrome of burning out. New ideas are always subjected to initial criticism and we are no exception. No creation in the universe is flawless. So we don’t find any difficulty in admitting that our work has lots of scope for improvement and that’s the reason why in the first point we had the courage to put it for review. contd...Read More

Mathurji, First of all thanks for the critical and honest view on the novel. Appreciate the time and effort you put in for it. A balancing effect should come at the right time, to clear many things which otherwise seem different from a distance. As Sajit has mentioned, we were more interested in the... cons,we weren’t afraid of criticism and hence preferred to get our work evaluated by a handful of people even before it went into publication. Usually very few writers would venture into such a risky thing as throwing open their product for open analysis, before it is published. But vanity was not our take. We believed that if our work has the capacity to draw more and more constructive criticism from people, then surely it has enough substance to make people read it till the end, and that’s where we wanted to score. With your review you established our belief. Thanks again for the same. We would love to become a phoenix any day, rather than a mere cuckoo. Most of the points has been elaborated at length by Sajit itself. So I’m not reiterating those things. But a few things I would like to add from my side is - 1. We gave our work to very specific people with the full knowledge and understanding, that it was an unfinished state. And we wanted people to come up with constructive feedback, for our own good. So things like spelling and grammar are very small things to be addressed as ’cons’ at this stage. 2. Regarding your point about IPL dates. Herein I would request you to go through the novel again because there we had clearly mentioned the IPL was taking place in the year 2008 and not at any later time as your review suggests. We had done our homework properly there so it was a surprise to see this point as a con in your review. :) The story keeps swinging from present to past to present with the time being mentioned everywhere. contd..Read More

Hemani When you say you are not the right person to come up with criticism, let me correct you, every one of you are the most eligible ones to criticize us. If you can applaud us why cannot you criticize? You guys are known for the way you analyze both pros and cons while writing a review. Your revi...ews will be our acid test and also the mirror by seeing which we will be able to modify things which we happened to oversee. I would love to and I’m sure Sajit would second my take - get a critical analysis of our work from you. Regards, BarnaliRead More

Babri Masjid – Ram Mandir or Peace & Humanity ?

Sep 24, 2010 02:05 AM (Updated Sep 24, 2010 02:11 AM)

Mazhar bhai It’s sad to see when we claim that we are progressing in every aspect, we still have some skeletons shoved inside the closet. We have come a long way after that and still everyone of us is thinking about the final verdict of who is wrong and who is right. For me, anything that ...brings in distress and tears, can never be good whatever might be the supporting cause for it. And when its the matter of religious wars, they are always something which cannot be classified as ’for a greater reason’. There is absolutely no reason in bloodshed. No prophet or God has ever asked their subject to preach violence. Brotherhood and peace is what is the presence of God about. When you feel good you feel god’s presence. When you destroy something or kill someone you dont thank god for the deed. Let there be no mandir-masjid on that spot. Let it house some building which might come for some good to the society, to make up for all the bad things that had happened for that place. Might be a school or museum or any other thing which signifies progress.Read More
