Let me be upfront at the very beginning. I do not own the Royal Enfield 500 EFI(or simply C5, as it's known by model code). At least not yet. The dang thing has a wait period of 30 days+ in Delhi and I'll be lucky to be seated on mine two weeks later, as promised by the dealer. I chose the black...Read more

Because, unless you help me maintain it, I have no use for two cars. I have switched to a Scorpio earlier this year, in the interests of economy and off-roadability (I travel frequently off the tarrmac on holidays).

Thanks Vinayak. You sound like someone from Delhi, and with a Scorp. Well, you should know that another fellow Scorpion (Ashish Gupta) and I tied up from this region and had a merry jaunt to Jodhpur and back last weekend. Some photos are already uploaded, but we are basically drawing straws to decid...e who posts the literature ; ) Will look forward to see how you like that. And at any point of time you wish to grow the North Scorps, feel free to buzz Ashish or me on the Yahoo group. Cheers mate! Read More

Sujan! You write with the lucidity of an old hand at the papyrus mate! I wonder how I never came across this review on the Scorpio earlier! Maybe a good thing too - this would have thrown me into an irretrievable complex of never being able to write on the vehicle I was bubbling about. Loved your Hu...ckleberry parallels. Is he imaginary - like Hobbes maybe? Keep writing. I'm off to read some more of your stuff!Read More

Hi there Sujan! Long time no see/hear. You simply disappeared after that introduction to the Scorpio group on Yahoo. I am now a full-fledged member there and am soon embarking on a road-trip with a fellow Scorpion from Gurgaon. Wanted to thank you for that. As for the phone - amazing how I bought t...he same thing too last week, huh? My 6600 was acting up (some sort of a short-circuitry used to blank out the screen everytime someone tapped me on the shoulder and the resultant shock transmited down to the waist where the gadget hung around)! Kidding. But it actually kept blanking out. So, in I goes to the first Nokia store, see this thing (the E 61), and much as you'd gnash your teeth - it was LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT! On trying to pick up a review on this thing on MS, I have to admit that most of your observations are bang on. Well, I use the internet a lot on this. Email is the main reason I bought the 6600 and now this. The Series 60 platform has an inherent problem of not being able to handle heavy demands and does tend to hang. It happened on my 6600 and it happens (much rarer) on this too. I also hate not being able to find a belt holster for this one (and by now every Nokia dealer in Delhi knows me as that mad Bong looking for a holster). Other than risking my poor ticker (already much abused through nicotine) to microwave radiation and kicking the bucket on a breezy winter morning, I've also had my phone pop out of my pocket on accassions I've leant over to pick up coins from the road, with sad results. Anyway, cheers! I am off to read some more reviews here. Read More

Pardon me for a 'lift-paste' from another of my forums. But I wanted to share this experience with all the travel-bugs out there on MS, since I did not see it listed on the site. Hey thanks Dheeraj. Your appreciation helps. The Tamron was purchased at a shade below 20,000. I would recommend the lens highly. Its a bit heavy sitting on the light 350D body, but nothing a tripod or a slightly higher film speed won't take care of. Let me know if there is anything else I can help ...you with.Read More

Great review Mandar! Good to see you in these parts too. I just came back from a long-ish haul in my Scorp. Cant wait to share my long-drive feedback with you guys at Yahoo, and make ammends for some of my reservations expressed earlier on the Scorp in MS.

Thanks 'shark. On the fuel economy bit - I've had a chance to drive the scorp to Jaipur and back on the same day and have the following observations: 1. The average was 12.9 kpl. I was expecting closer to 15, since I get over 11 anyway in and about Delhi. But I think it has something to do with pus...hing the vehicle over 100 most of the time. With the aerodynamics this design possesses, beyond a certain speed, it would only require disproportionate amount of energy to sustain those speeds. 2. The ride is extremely comfortable. A straight drive of 600 kms did not leave me even a little fatigued. 3. Enough reserve power for highway manouevres, provided you remember what you are driving. 4. The ac can stop working if set on the coldest while engine speeds are constantly high. This happens due to freezing along the condenser tubes. Best to set thermals to medium cold, and put on ac HI for such hauls. Will be glad to publish more findings as I drive the Scorp further.Read More

I share your views exactly. My vehicles about the same age as yours (identical colour/specification too!). However, I was not given the rear spoiler/washer combo during delivery. Was told that the part was in short supply from Mahindra and would be available by the end of this month FOC. I hope so. ...The rear wiper will be useless without the washer jet, and I dont care much for the aesthetics of the spoiler anyway. I have logged on a formal complaint about this on the scorpio web-site, but I wish I had a more direct access to their marketing dept. Any clues? Will be following your experiences closely since we both seem to come from similar backgrounds of sedan to SUV. Happy driving!Read More

Its like this. For us who get their dose of adrenalin from behind a steering wheel in India - you've either driven a 1.6 Ikon, or you haven't. As absolute as that! And if you think that reeked of bias, try this for size - you've either driven flat out on top of a high altitude desert somewhere b...Read more

Hey Taurgo - thanks a bunch for those compliments! Yes, I admit that I do tend to get a bit carried away with the language at times and forget the need to be simple and readable. Will keep it in mind next time. My turn to wow at your trophy then. A CJ 1942?!! WOW! As a kid, I used to know a friend w...ho's family had one of these original Willy's left-hand drive models. Three forward gears only, but went like a cracker. Petrol engine ofcourse. My friend rear-ended a bus with this jeep one day and as a result we ended up in a mad chase (the bus chased us) all over 4 whole city blocks in a complete copy from a Hollywood flick! The stunts that old bucket of bolts pulled! Maan! Anyway. Will stay in touch in this neighbourhood. Cheers! Read More

You said it Rahul. I fully agree that besides the new springs put in by M&M in their new Scorpio, most of the other '43 new features' are superficial. Not ONE safety feature introduced in a vehicle that weighs 2 tonnes and travels over 100 kmph! And this car isn't even tested for crash-worthiness! I... did bite the bullet and buy the vehicle a week ago, and am not to unhappy with the decision so far, but for the kind of money I had to pay, I'd be happier to have included EBD, ABS at least. And airbags at an extra cost. C'mon! Even the Swift has these on a model costing half of this! M&M wake up and smell the coffee! You've taken some beating in your south African reviews too in the model you export there.Read More
