@lovesreading In short, the history of the subcontinent goes way back. Britishers lied, and lied their pants off, to get us to submit to our betters, as they said it then to break our spirit as a nation, as a people. What was worse was, we took the bait, rulers in the beginning driven by their own g...reed. The politicians as i shared in the post above, weren't must better than greedy aristocrats bickering over personal gain, and what nation, nevermind whatever happens to it and the people.
Here we are today, and if it were not for some strong and noble characters, Patel is one of them, India would be much worse off. Unfortunately, Patel is not given the due, and most likely will never be recognised by the masses as the saviour of the nation that he was. It is my hope that we Indians learn about our own history proper, and our forgotten heroes like Patel, who for political reasons has now been reduced to side notes in our history books.Read More

@lovesreading Religion in India. in the most traditional sense was never divisive in the olden days. What is amusing is that there are records of other people coming and taking refuge in India, in BCE times, and they all had freedom to practice whatever they believed, wanted. India, known before as ...Bharat was home to many different cultures/ languages, and if India and Hindus were so intolerant as we are told now, how could they all have not only survived, but flourish? One must only go to some remote places in India, to see that there was no influence made to natives living there in how they wanted to be, do things. Well, it was so till the missionaries arrived in India thanks to Portuguese and Britishers, and a lot of those cultures don't exist no more, even if the people do. This is irrefutable proof of the British divide and rule policy and that damage it has wrought on fabric of India, and in dividing people, denigrating our history, so we have no pride in ourselves. Infact, it is considered communal to speak of our own history, and what is shameful is that while the world is learning about India, and twisting the history of the land, those who are to defend it, are silent.
It takes a couple of French guys to speak about India and Indus Civilisation, and how we should be proud about it. They're disputing conservative dates with Indian archaeologists, the lot which is more than happy and willing to subvert history on whims of outsiders. Michel Danino, has written books about Saraswati, the river where the civilisation flourished. It should be spelt with a 'v' not 'w', as no Indian language afaik has a 'w' sound, but nevermind that for now. He also points out, and it is an agreed figure throughout most scientific communities apparently, that Indians were indulging in agriculture for approximately since 6000-7000 bce, but you do not find that in textbooks, which is a shame, and it takes a few foreigners to help us remember our own history.Read More

Mufflerman Giving false promises, and blaming others was the hallmark of politicians of Congress. Not that others didn't do it, but just look at how successful MNREGA was. So much money, unaccounted for, nothing to show for. It would have been better to simply give it away, and in that manner some p...eople would have at least something to eat or whatever. There's not that much transparency for how all the money was spent, and whatever, if anything tangible was properly achieved. Mind, this is in the country with one of the largest population, a good number of it living well below poverty line.Read More

@Toothless Thanks. Yes, the idea was to make people think. Today wouldn't have been possible without yesterday, and we were taught to be so ashamed of our past, but that was all largely lies by our own leaders who were subverted to divide us as a nation. We must learn from our past, as those who don...'t learn from their mistakes, are bound to repeat them. It was a mistake to not stand united in the face of the British, and now we're being forced by the west once again to kill each other. Make no mistake, Churchill starved many millions, by some accounts more than 5 million, and conservatively estimated to be more than 2 million. That's just in one region of India.
There are those of us who sent many millions of us, who were merely used as cannon fodder, and it is unfortunate that we're again siding with outsiders and fighting against the interest of our nation, our people.
The older i get, the more ashamed i'm of the many generations that came since the late 1880's. Half of us are confused about who we are, but the answers are all there for us to see. It is not hard to see that we've been successfully divided. Even though we prayed differently for thousands of years, we weren't divided, but the East India Co., did something that our 1200 dialects & languages and varied culture couldn't. We were broken into many countries, and we're still fighting each other. It has to be another blog, but i guess some other time.Read More
