It seems two years have passed since my last review. I have found the Tata Indicom connection to be better than its competitors, and the overall package is also very good.
On the other hand, there is a curious phenomenon that I have witnessed: When I dial the regular no., 172226, I get a connection at 50 kbps plus, while the alternate no. only connects at 33 kbps or less. However, when you connect at night time (after 10:30 pm), the regular no. usually freezes up after receiving just 190 bytes at times, and on better days with around 100k bytes (Same problem with BSNL call id based system), while the alternate no. works just fine, and gives a very good data throughput. Maybe that's because it's the alternate no.
One question, though...how come no ISP seems to offer V.92 technology for dial-up? Is it because they don't want to upgrade?
