Vijeta-part 2. Review on Lakshya

What can u make when u make the most stylish and one of the most amazing movies of the decade.Thats a question which must have haunted Farhan Akhtar for 1 full years which was the time between his Dil Chahta Hai becoming a cult movie and his announcement of his second movie-Lakshya.

Well its tough to repeat the magic of a good and a successful movie. It is very difficult

when the movie u made earlier was -Dil Chahta Hai. Akhtar surprised everyone by scapping the media hype of him casting Shahrukh khan, Hrithik Roshan and Vivek Oberoi in another Friends type movie. He did sign Hrithik and that surprised everyone as that time Hrithik had hit an all time low and people questioned his decision. The other surprise he gave was that inspite of his success as a writer he was not scripting Lakshya and instead his veteran father-Javed Akhtar would script a full movie after almost a decade(the last he wrote was something he would like to forget-Prem in 1995).Another surprise was that Lakshya will have war as its backdrop.War movies are fine but anyone who has loved DCH would be shocked by Akhtar's decision.

The story like that of Yuva is secretly guarded but there are enough hints to predict what lies beneath. From whatever has been written or seen it is evident that Lakshya is the new millenium poackaging of Shashi Kapoor's classic-Vijeta released in 1983.

Vijeta was about a young boy who is not sure of his abilities and his aim in life.After a few hiccups he joins the Air-Force and after a series of setbacks becomes a winner-Vijeta and win the hearts of his father-Shashi andsweetheart-Supriya Pathak.Needless to say that the 1983 classic which was effortlessly directed by Govind Nihalani was an amazing film but with relaism as its forte.Considering

DCH as a bench-mark one knows that Farhan has loads of talent to make a great movie and it will be totally stylish as well.So I assume that the complexities which were shown in Vijeta will be simpilfied and there will be fun filled scenes as well.

After the unfortuante flopping of the war epic-LOC there is a lot of speculation over the Indo-Pak relationship mvies in the pipe-line specially after the Friendship series Cricket matches in Pakistan. However Lakshya's biggest asset after Farhan is undoubetdly Hrithik Roshan, Fresh from sweeping the awards for best actor for Koi mIl Gaya Hrithik again is one of the hottest actor around.

The fact that Lakshya is his only current movie says a lot. Although the movie also stars Big B but there is no doubt in the mind of viewers that Lakshya is an out and out Hrithik's movie. From the DCH team Preity is again with Hrithik after Koi Mil GayaPreity seems to be playing the part of a journalist inspired by real life daring journalist-Barkha Dutt..Giving way to the serious father of Vijeta-played brilliantly by Shashi Kapoor we have an eccentric father in the form of Boman Irani.

Om Puri(who was also there in Vijeta) also forms part of the cast. This will be the second film after K3G where Amitabh and Hrithik will come face to face. After Khakee this will be the second movie where Big B has shaved his beard in the post-KBC era.

I hope he will be as impacting as he was in Khakee. Javed Akhtar writing for Big B will be another big asset as both are working after Main Azaad Hoon-1989, although Big B had a cameo in Armaan-where Javed wrote the dailogues. Hrithik's hairstyle has already caught attention in the slick promos. Preity also has a stunning hair style. So far Lakshya has been able to match the hairstyle of DCH in terms of class. Now whether it matches the overall quality is yet to be seen.

I hope that the movie is released soon as I cant wait to see whether Lakshya is Vijeta in a new packet or not.
