Although I got to see the movie in the first few days, it took me some time to write this review.. My first reaction while in the movie hall was one of frustration... Why do they make such long movies that go on and on and on ??

When I heard of the story it sounded good enough for me.. I am not one who would take a moral stand and criticise a movie just because it takes a controversial stand and strays away from popular ideas.. Nor would I give a bad review for an off beat movie.. In fact, I enjoy such themes..

In this movie, my major compliments goes to Shah Rukh who successfully protrays himself as a bum and almost ends up ruining his choclate boy image.. I know of many people who have begun to hate him now - for playing a negative role so well.... Just as people used to fear and hate Pran in the olden days...

Compliments also to the Big B for providing a different image of himself and playing a stellar role in this movie... There is no doubt in anyones mind of his greatness as an actor...

Abhishek also played remarkably well.. Preity handled her part well while Rani could have done much better based on her caliber..

Music was good and a couple of songs were very catchy... esp. the one that goes "Mere Man...."..

My main grouse on this movie is the fact that they did not capture the essense of the differences between the spouses too well.. It was at a very surface level and I know that Indians have the strength of character to overcome minor differences as shown in the movie.. The director should have really spent more effort in portraying the background in a convincing manner..

I was also not too happy with the shoddy editing - Shah Rukh landing out of nowhere in Rani's wedding... Very childish, I thought.. Also, an unnecessary scene of Shah Rukh and Rani booking a hotel room to make love !!!

All in all, I would not advice anyone to spend well earned money to watch this movie... See it if it comes on cable TV or if someone is smart enough to "gift" their ticket to you...
