I have not been reading books for a long time – almost 20 odd years, never had the time. Then suddenly about 6 months back I found a new lending library near my house and became a member.
After that I found ‘Jack Reacher’ the fictional character after I saw the Tom Cruse movie. Lee Child has written over 10 or 12 books in this series and I read them all one after the other.
I have always prided at having the knack of picking winner in movies and books, so after I finished the Reacher series my eyes went to the “Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”.
Of course the first thing I notices was that it was a translation and the original was in Swedish. This was a story based in a part of Europe that I did not know much about. In fact(like most of us) most of my reading was based in the US and my knowledge of anything European was rudimentary.
Then I read the jacket about the author – that he was dead! He was so young and this was his first book. Actually I read that he had written 3 books – a trilogy – and died before they were published.
Anyway, my curiosity was aroused and took the book home to read. And what a story this guy, Stieg Larsson, told!
The fantastic part, however fabulous this 1st part is, it’s just a side story to the actually one which is in part 2 and part 3. It’s amazing. What a thriller. I am so happy to have found this book and now I am almost finishing the 3rd one.
