You,Me & a Hindi Comedy Movie

Just as what the title of this article suggests- what else can you ask for...hmm, perhaps cups of coffee to add to it!

Talking for Hindi movies, I think, Bollywood over the years is best when it comes to Hindi comedy movies. And now, my dear readers, I would like to take you down memory lane, with me, reliving some of my most wonderful Hindi comedy movies that I have seen! I think it will be unjust to rank them as each of them is a rare masterpiece, so, we would just touch upon them.

Let’s start with the black and white era with the three Kumar brother's ‘Chalti Ka Naam Gadi’- mind-blowing comedy with a touch of murder mystery added to it! Super hit in those times and still remains a classic. Same with an another Kishore Kumar flick- ‘Half Ticket’.

Moving onto the colour(ful) movies, the movie which just cannot escape anyone’s mind is ‘Angoor’- double role confusion being the base-subject, beautifully directed followed soon by Amol Palekar’s ‘Golmaal’ which was a huge hit. Amol Palekar grabbed many similar roles of the middle class confused yet intelligent young man in movies like ‘Rajnigandha’ and ‘Choti Si Baat’-where Ashok Kumar teaches his how to transform himself into a Casanova among women from an ordinary young urban man- a great watch!

Let’s not miss out yet another Kishore Kumar starrer, this time with Sunil Dutt- ‘Padosan’- considered as a great piece of classic comedy! Many were unsure whether Sunil Dutt would be able to carry out such an innocent-rural role, as the audiences were used to seeing him in dacoit and serious roles. But we all know how well he carried out the role in ‘Padosan’! A similar impression floated with Amitabh Bacchan and moreso with Dharmendra in the out and out comedy ‘Chupke Chupke’ as both of them were doing serious and action movies in those times!

In the recent decades, who can ignore ‘Hera Pheri’ the laugh riot with Paresh Rawal, Akshay Kumar and Sunil Shetty and the very recent. And let’s not forget the series of Govinda comedy movies- The No.1 series and the very recent ‘Ek Aur Ek Gyarah’ with Sanjay Dutt. But, dear readers, let’s rewind, and play in our mind the Aamir- Salman starrer “Andaz Apna Apna’. Many would, and I too would comfortably choose it as the BEST Hindi comedy movie ever made!
