I had seen this complex coming up and had even seen the announcement that they had opened but the one time I was driving past this place after they had opened I was horrified to see the traffic jam around this place. The road is very narrow and a'U' turn is not allowed if you are coming from the opposite direction.
So, last Friday when my wife suddenly said that she wanted to go to the new Shopper's Stop that had opened on Arcot Road - I thought she was talking about this Mall cum multiplex and I agreed to take her since I wanted to see the movie Kahani!
It was only after we went there(and immediately bought tickets for the movie - since THAT was what I was interested in!) we realised that Shopper's Stop was not here! Since we had a lot of time to kill - and the mall itself did not have much of a choice for shopping except for the Pantaloon store, we drove to Shopper's Stop which is actually in the new Ceebros complex in Saligramam.
After that we came back to Chandra Mall, parked the car again(the underground parking is unique since they have hydraulic systems(which I saw for the 1st time anywhere) that will winch a car further underground if the place fills up. But since there were hardly any people there, my car stayed in the jack on the same level.) The parking rates are reasonable too . not like Citi Centre!
But unlike Citi Centre, the food-court here has few choices(some were closed) but it was adequate and the food was tasty and reasonably priced.
The multiplex was a nice experience. It has the'Fame' brand and the seats were good sized and clean(of course new!) and comfortable. They sell & serve popcorn & other food stuff right inside the theater.
The funny thing is, there were very few people! Even for the movie - which was released just that day. I think this must be because the shopping choice is limited - and the people who must have rushed in at the beginning must have gone back disappointed. But I recommend this place. As far as I am concerned(like any male I guess!), the parking is good, the food is ok and the movie experience is fine! And to top it off - its not any an expensive place!
