Good review, Mr. Roy! wish i'd got on to ms earlier, maybe we could have met at the Taj in Beijing... i spent the first couple of weeks of december there.... one piece of advice, if you want to shop in BJ, THE place to go is HongQiao (pearl market) opposite to TianTan (temple of heaven). This ...is the wholesale market for paintings, seals, chinese art stuff, jewelry, pearls, DVDs/VCDs, clothes, accesories, toys, etc. basically a superset of Silk Street and the vendors are less rip-offs... decent prices and pretty decent quality.. although i stick to the sculptures, paintings and souveniers there... also note for travelers.. am a big fan of KF, ad found the local beer Tsing Tao to be pretty close in taste.... do try it when you're there... the ming tombs are awesome, not to be missed... cheers rakesh Read More
