I always related technology with fire - a good servant, but a bad master! Unfortunately, several of us (I am first in line!) have succumbed to lures of technology faster than an Alonso on steroids.
I cannot imagine a life without my cell phone, notebook and microwave - but they totally rule the ...way I live. And I enjoy it in a sado-masochistic manner!

I agree with you that time-shares are not necessarily great value for money. However, there are at least a few flaws in your argument.
One, no bank with give you a 9% return over long term. Most FD's give you the maximum interest rate for a period between 1 and 2 yrs.
Second, if you are with...drawing the interest yearly, you are liable to tax on your interest; post TDS you may get only around 14K in hand
Third, you are paying the same cost for
the hotel room 25 years from now. Even accounting for a pro-rated increase in maintenanace costs, this is still a good deal.
I still don't think timeshares make a lot of monetary sense (and hence agree with your point of view in general), but just wanted to point out some flaws in your logic.

Was there a 'Little India' in Brazil ? :). After Chinese and Italian, it is not too difficult to see Indian cuisine making a major global impact - and they already have in several of the English-speaking countries...

Great topic to write on, right time to write it and, as usual, very well written.
Rapid chess, blind chess and one-against many competitions are helping popularize the game and especially in small towns and townships it is immensely popular among children.
There is quiet a bit of money in th...is as well. (that Visshy was the highest earning sportsperson was a surprise! I would have chosen Jeev and, maybe last year, Narain Karthikeyan). That explains why cheating has entered the game of rajahs. A player was dismissed recently for having a bluetooth device embedded in his cap!
Finally some food for thought - is chess a game or a sport? For that matter what distinguishes a game from a sport?

Don't agree with your opinion on Tabu though - I though she fit the role pretty well. Maybe you were expecting a certain Ashima after reading the book and when the same Ashima didn't turn up you felt disappointed? Maybe...

Ha! Ha! I am sorry to say this, but I really enjoyed your hilarious adventure (for the 3rd party anyway!).
I hold an HSBC card myself for 3+ years now and (touchwood; fingers and toes crossed) no bad experiences yet!

Nice place; good ambience; great starters. I was disappointed by the main course though. The sandwhich I ordered was too soggy and the veggies were not fresh.
Overall, have to concur with swill - nice place to chill over a pitcher.

As always.
We are due for our annual vacation shortly - I was deciding between Cambodia, Vietnam (esp. Angkor) and beaches of Malaysia (Langkawi, Pulau Terrengani). Now maybe I have to weigh the rain forests as a third option??
