LoganClub, Good review. In fact My review some 10 months back had these points. After driving 11000 Km swith a diesel Logan, I do not regret my decision. Logan has a fantastic road grip and suspension and is the best fit for congested cities wher one needs to drive in low gears and still n...eeds to save on fuel cost.Read More

adyg, sorry to come accross your experience, however, the problem is not very clear - how can the wires be cut...did you give the car to anyone for repairs or driving. I have a diesel (DLX) Logan and I have done more than 11000 Kms. I did not face any problem with the car except some loose... screws in the hood, that was after I got the automatic boot opener installed and some door noise that was handled by the dealer. I would also like to voice the same concern as Martin, if the car is 4 months old why is the dealer not replacing / repairing things properly. I was having some door noise and the dealer replaced the locks of all the four doors - free of charge. You should take up the problem with your dealer, if you have not allowed any other repairer to handle the car.Read More

Manish, First, let me assure you, you made the right choice when compared to Accent and Dzire - Logan is definitely a better car for Indian roads (read craters). My Logan has done more than 11000 Kms and believe me in the initial months, I had the same problem with the gear, that you are h...aving, It went off within the first two months. when going for the first servicing, ask the dealer to tighten all the bolts, specially the engine plate bolts. Verify with them if the door-locks are the new type locks (this had a problem in the initial lot and was changed in Feb 2008). Check the screen water spray nozzle - normally it sprays water on the roof, ask for an adjustment so that it hits the screen. Overall it is a good car for the money...and so far the best in it;s category. Read More

Nothing new in your review, that has not already been written in this space. The funny thing that you found is not so funny in Europe and in the modern cars in India - rear light is one - that is the standard, check out the SX4 or the Chevrolet...or any standard car that runs in Western Europe. ... One of my cars is a Logan Diesel (DLX) - it has a few problems, mostly caused due to using smaller screws and no washers - like the engine base plate or the power window motor mount...but these are handled on servicing, for a list of detailed problems read one of my responses in April / May. I would still recommend Logan for the price and maintenance cost, it gives me an amazing 18.5 to a litre of diesel with AC on and on a consistent basis. It has an examplary road grip and is exceptionally stable at high speeds. My Logan has done more than 10,000 kilometres - the engine matures with mileage, certain initial discomfert that was there in pick-up and sudden throttle has smoothed out but the there are certain body noises, on and off - that is because of the loose screws and lack of spring-washer support. The door-lock need a replacemnt ( for before Feb 2008 cars) that comes free from the dealer (as per the circular to Logan dealers). One last word, if you really want to buy a Logan, buy a diesel one, it is the best in it's class, miles ahead of DZire or Indigo Read More

Hi, I am using a Logan for sometime now (DLX) and have done more than 7000 Kms. It is the best car for the money it is charging, but every new car launch has it's problems. Without trying to dissuade a buyer let me jot down a few, we are here to help each other, isn't it... 1- The air circul...ation has a problem, the flow is not smooth because of the air passage design, at high fan speeds the cooling is not as efficient as it is expected to be. At high fan speed you get a noise - nothing wrong, but the noise is created by the obstruction on the path of airflow 2 The bolts used to hold the engine guard plate are very small. They can just hold the nut and there is no place for a spring-washer. The bolts get loose with constant vibration (since there is no spring washer to absorb the unrest) and after sometime the plate starts making noise - get this tightened at first servicing and at every servicing don't forget to mention this. Hope they will correct this in future 3 If you have got the auto-boot-opener attached to your vehicle, you will face the same problem as in No-2 above. 4 The door locks are having inferior quality rubber insulation on the parts that are fixed to the beams. After a few thousand kilometres the rubber gives way and the door locks start making noise - there is a direction from Mahindra to replace this - but unless you ask the dealer may simply keep quiet - so ask the dealers. This problem is for the vehicles relased before Feb 2008 5 The motor mounting screw inside the Power Windows have a problem at factory fit. Get them tightened at the first service, this will resolve the issue 6 The same problem you may face with the seat adjustments - the factory fits are not suffciently tight, get them done at the first servicing 7 There may be wheel alignment problem. The alignment comes free with second servicing - Make sure that the dealer does it. More later ... last word - still I don't regret buying the LoganRead More

This car will compete with the current market leader in entry level sedans - Mahindra's Logan. Logan is the best deal on deasel, though the petrol version is not going so strong. However, at around the same price as DZire - Logan gives a more powerful engine, a better designed / spaced interior and ...a very solid suspension - DZire will be able to match this or not - is to be seen. Since DZire is coming with a 1.3 Lt engine designed for the hatchback, the fule economy is likley to suffer with an extended body, any way - the launch is scheduled for day after tomorrow (26th March) and the Mahindras and Tatas are awaiting that as eagerly as some of us.Read More

Satya and Zaib, Here is my take on the advice. for a background - I bought my first Maruti in 1994, changed to Hyundai in 2000 and returning back to Maruti this year with an Estilo (in between I got a sedan for office use). The points in favour of Estilo are: 1 It is a newer ...version with the same engine as a WagonR 2 There is not much difference in the carrying / luggage capacity 3 It comes cheaper than the WagonR at ex-showroom level 4 The discount and benefit package offered by Maruti is much higher in Estilo 5 The styling and looks are much better than the WagonR 6 As a machine there is raraely a difference between the two except for the fact that WagonR is a more tested model 7 I am not sure about the discontinuation of WagonR, as mentioned by Zaib, so can not comment on that 8 Both are good cars, but if one is buying today, it makes more sense in going for the Zen Read More

Hi Carlover, Sorry to dissappoint you, the figures are not correct, from where ever you got them. Coming to the car superiority, in small car segment, Maruti is still the best. Even if you compare Hyundai Zing and I10 (Getz is anyway a washout even by Hyundai confidants) and match aga...inst the WagonR or Estillo, the maruti cars are anyday better, without bringing the Swift into comparison. (In fact I am replacing my Santro with an Estillo, inspite of a very handsome exchange offer from Hyundai) In the sedan entry sector Logan has beaten the competition hollow, including Verna, As per the Feb figures published in public Domain (Rediff), Logan is the highest seller. Before getting my Logan DLX, I checked on Verna, SX4, Aveo and Fiesta and luckily selected Logan....I don't regret that after 10 months. Srininet - the Logan is not compared to a Honda for the basic reason that they fall in clearly demarketed segments. Logan is an entry point sedan whereas a Honda is not so. The efffective on road price of a Honda comes to 8 to 8.5 lakhs (depending on your location), whereas Petrol Logan starts at around 4.5 and the fully loaded Logan Petrol comes by 5 Lakh - hope you realise the reason for non comparison. One more thing - on the opposite side alignment of light and wiper switches - have any of you driven a Chevrolet ?Read More

Logan come cheaper than any sedan, per rupee distance travelled is maximum in the sedan class (for Logan Diesel) and has the maximum space among all sedans (Except Merc E and S class). You have price, mielage and space all on this car - high time 'aapni akal lagao.....'

I bought my Logan Diesel sometime back in Thane (Mumbai). The AC works perfectly and I didn't venture to do any engineering with the boot - so I don't need a rope. The Global Gallerie (Dealer) service is quite good, I find them everready, polite and sincere. Once they drove all the way to my office ...( around 25 KM) since I called them up for a missing document. I didn't face any duct problem either. I guess one needs to be real unlucky to suffer the way you are suffering. Please try and check with any other dealer.Read More

Kustabh.....from your review it appears that you have inquired on the price and ventured to write the review including the comfort, reliability etc of the vehicle. I suggest you take a few test drives on different roads, form a proper opinion and then revisit this page with a proper review. A dissat...isfaction on price inquiry does not really matter as far as the actual performance of the product - I hope we have the maturity to comprehend that.Read More

Just to add to my comments - I was not clear about your comment of an 'Average Indian'. To my understanding, an average Indian dosen't own a car, the last quarter Gazzette Report of the Central Govt of the Republic of Union of India, also corroborates this. Less than 1% of Indians own a car. I am s...till confused whether my understanding of the word 'Average' is incorrect or of the word 'Indian'Read More

Buying a car for percieved greatness is one of the foolish decisions commonly made. Three of my friends bought SX4 and Chevrolet Aveo - all are now repenting, after seeing my Logan DLX and it's perfoemance. As I wrote earlier - this is a no nonsense, fact-on-the-table car. In which way is any ...other car in it's segment better for a city ride, let some one explain.Read More

John A well written review...the way you have put the negatives is good, yes a petrol car driver will feel intial drag while climbing a slope with a diesel car. I drve a petrol car and a Logan DLX with frequent interchanges. One thing may be you have not experienced,....check out the ground cle...arance with a full passenger Logan and an above average speedbump....this aspect needs improvement.Read More

Dear Das, I would still suggest that you go for a diesel version - that gives you the most out of a Logan. I recommend the DLX (though as per Hormasji it is overprised)...I think that is the best form of Logan considering the features and price....the October discount is 30K in Mumbai

the spares are the cheapest among the sedans. The spares of Indigo and Logan compete with each other. The serviceas are available in the Mahindra network. Regarding the tie up, the first 50000 vehicles will have Renault engine and gearbox and some other parts from Renault and after that Mahind...ra Logan JV will be licensed to make them...I am sure that parts made by the Mahindra-Logan JV will be equally competent.Read More

Hi, the risk elements as mentioned by deepak, are not as grave as made out to be, but the matter of wheel getting locked is a concern. This problem has been reported by one of the Swift users also. So far, I have not found any problem with my DLX, apart from a comparatively moderate pick-up as... compared to petrol vehicles. The gear shift was tight, that is loosening up.Read More
