Quote: A 6th gear would had given it a better power ratio and also would have improved its performance (Bike India magazine has also mentioned it, u can notice). Reply: This is because they wanted to design the bike which can ride at 30 km/hr to 120 km/hr in the fifth. That gives a lot of comfor...t to the rider on the highways. If you are not happy with the ratio. you can change that, its easy. Just put a 15 teeth sprocket in front and your fifth is not strained even at 110 km/hr.Read More

I dont know which fazer you are talking about.. the widely available fazer 153 does not have fuel injection and cant go beyond 130 km/hr.

continued from last comment - They sometimes also do that to increase your vehicles mileage but how will you come to know that why have they mentioned this viscosity grade. If your mileage decreases by 4-5%, no problem, but if your engine is not protected, then there is a problem. Sometimes the m...anufacturer mentions higher viscosity grades (Hot) as they know that there manufactured engine will get very hot and they require a higher viscosity grades(All pulsars as far as I know run on 20W50 grade, which is very high viscosity grade. Again coming back to your point, when you are using 10W40 in place of 10W30 you are well protected when the engine is cold but less protected when the engine is hot, surprised, but thats the truth!! I have myself used thicker grades in my old splendor and no problems arised at any point of time, but why take chance? You may continue to use your present grade oil till whenever you want.. but try changing to company specified grade on next change. (You have a very less choice of good oils in 10W30 grades, ALAS!) but you have a blessing in disguise - When your engine becomes old and starts consuming oil - You may shift to 20W40 grades to avoid oil loss and when it becomes even older and starts consuming 20W40 oil, you may use 20W50 oil and the oil consumption will again be as it was a new engine!! Hope you get the point, I have tried to use the simplest of language but if someone finds it difficult to understand, please forgive! You may try many other websites but I am sure this the simplest it can get! :-) Read More

Hi, I am cut copy pasting the comment I have posted on Bike advice, http://bikeadvice.in/engine-oil-maintenence/ two days back and is under moderation and will be published soon: When the company specifies 10W30 you should use 10W30. Why? Here is the answere: The number before the W means cold... oil viscosity and the number after the W is hot oil viscosity. But - Both are VISCOSITIES or THICKNESS as you may call them. Conventional Oils are thicker when they are cold and thin when HOT, But these multigrade oils which you see as 10W30, 10W40 etc. are thin when cold and thick when hot!! Just the opposite!! How (they have special additives - search the net and you will find lots of information on SAE grade oils and viscosity etc.) Why they are opposite to conventional oils - Because when you start your vehicle it is cold and the oil should flow faster to cover the moving parts or they will get damaged. Hence the lower the rating before W the better. Like 0W30 is better than 5W30 and 10W30. But in Indian climate we hardly need lesser than 20W grades as 20W grade is good for 0?C. In Kashmir you will need 10W grades as these oils are good for even -20?C. Now coming to the value after W - This is the oil viscosity at 100?C. So the W30 oil is thinner than W40 and W50 when the engine is HOT. Here lies your problem - Honda/Hero honda specifies that you use a thinner oil (when the engine is HOT) but you are using a thicker oil. Your engine is not more protected when the oil is more viscous. It is more protected when the oil can penetrate the thin lining between the piston and the wall. If the company is specifying thinner oil it means that the clearances between the moving parts are very thin and only the specified oil grade can penetrate them. @shree2325 – Dear Shree, I have nothing against this bike or for that matter any bike. I am a bike enthusiast and read a lot of reviews on new and old bikes alike. When I come across a review like this which has a main intention of telling the world that “I own this bike” and has nothing to do with ...the feelings of the reader and comments like I give a damn to those.. go buy an e-scooter etc. are being made for the reader. I wanted to share my knowledge on the bike and wanted mr. dev to face the reality. This bike, just like any other bike is not the best!! I have owned a HH splendor and know the durability of the bikes they make. Presently I own a Fazer 150 and have reviewed both splendor and fazer on this site. You may also visit them and I am sure you won’t be disappointed in gathering information on those bikes. I am gathering more and more knowledge on engine oils and bikes and helping ppl choose the best machine as per their requirements That too free of cost as a hobby! Neither am I planning to buy a bike in the next 4-5 years nor am I interested to sell mine.. I love Karizma but the comments I made were in response to the derogatory comments I read!! Regarding wind tunnel testing – It is not for race tracks but for long rides.. You should read my Fazer review once to find out more!!Read More

though i am replying quite late, but if the problem is still there, may be the petrol you are using is contaminated with diesel or kerosene. secondly if the engine oil level is going down there may be a serious problem.. i also hope you are not mixing any oils with the petrol at the bunk as it is a ...four stroke vehicle.. only two stroke vehicle requires oil petrol mix.Read More

Whom is cbz made for if ppl of 5’8 are thinking its too big in height? but anyway the best choice is already being made by you as apache is the king of 150 cc segment.. if you disregard looks.. I think you forgot to go to yamaha showroom.. One more thing - tvs tyres... are quite good and have quite a variety.. apache is having the best they made.Read More

Dear Dev, It seems you are suffering from ’’I am best and my bike is best’’ syndrome. Though i feel it is the best available for the pricetag it comes with but the drawbacks are many. 1. Lack of monocross suspension 2. Fairing not wind tunnel tested and bike drags to a side at speeds above 80.... 3. Lack of stability at high speeds(vibrations) 4. Tyres are not wide enuf 5. Average looks 6. 17 bhp and 35 km/ltr lesser than an apache/pulsar 180. (what is the extra 50cc for?) 7. Lack of dual fairing lights. 8. Small digital console 9. Too noisy.. presence of 10w30 engine oil is the culprit. 10. Commonly available semisynthetic and synthetic oils can’t be used as these are w40 or w50 grades (a big no from me who take full benefits of these oils in engine smoothness, power and engine protection) It is just a better powered cbz. I won’t mind if you take offense, as I also give a damn to those ppl who think they are the best.. Read More

After 6000 kms the engine has become so smooth as if I am riding on butter. May also be due to shell advance ultra fully synthetic oil in the engine. Tried taking it above 105 k/h one day but was disappointed as it was taking too long for every 1k/h increment and the engine was nearing 8000 rpm mark... which i never intend to cross (for engine’s long life). The engine smoothens with mileage on the odo this is the first bike which I have seen which continue to get smooth even after second service. 13000 kms in 6 months.. you have used it quite nicely.. thank God u didn't select karizma/enfield or else you would have taken a big blow on your pocket.. ppl want to know more about the mileage i would suggest you include your bike's mileage. this bike saved you, it saved me too.. but this is the s...ame bike which takes you in that situation.. you doesn't come to know the speeds till 80 km/hr.. more speed, more distance to stop.. it takes a lot of practice to come to know what speeds you are riding at without looking at the speedometer.. these are one of the best review pics i have seen of the bike, i also drove to hogenekkal two months back from Hyderabad, but with family in the family car hence couldn't click a similar pic with my touring machine. one question for you - which engine oil is being used in your bike? what would you recommend for long rides?Read More

@shanks_cool007 - FZ gives a mileage of 40+. don't even think of taking a stunner for rides above 60k/hr.. you will skid. you have shortlisted the best bike for yourself (apache). Though i would have suggested an fz to you for its exceptional ride comfort and safety at your speeds, but the FE is low... in comparison hence dropped the idea.Read More

really a nice review and i am surprised that it had been seen so less.. the number of views just don't go with the content of this review.. some good piece of info on other bikes too.. but as they were old and the owner may have just not maintained them properly does not make them poor by any chance..... but yes tvs apache is one of my favorite bikes if the looks are improved further it will be one of the top selling bikes in india.. or may be it is!! To counter vibrations you try putting Motul 300v engine oil.. its the best oil for this bike.. keep checking the levels as it tends to evaporate fast..Read More
