Very nice observations in just one month. I request you to update this review once you cross 10K KM. By that time your bike will be tested enough and you may see different colors. My personal experiance.

2. Change the headlight Dome shape, add some more brightness, Focus. I like Hunk headlight dome very much, next new CBZ Xtream’s. 3. Bike is very comfortable, but seat is very hard. Add some cushioning to seat. 4. Rider’s foot pegs to be moved back just like, Hunk, Xtream, or stunner which giv...es more sportier stance to rider. 5. Alloy wheels are good, but not easy to clean, Alloy wheels found on Herohonda are easy to clean. 6. Give some protection to Mono suspension link as the rear Tyre deposits mud very easily. I think yamaha has done a nice job here for their 150CC bikes. Tips for better mileage: I usually do not apply kick start in the morning neither the choke, Just gives small amount of acceleration and apply the electric start. Keeps the bike Idle for at least one minute at about 2000 rpm before the first ride of the day. Good for engine as engine get warm up and engine oil starts flowing freely. After all we also can not start running from the bed itself. To get the decent mileage one has to try this technique ( read some where). Mark your Accelerator twist as quarter, half and full. Never exceed quarter, you will definitely get 58+ mileage on unicorn even in city conditions. Stop the engine at signals, Save fuel. Enjoy riding, but with little responsibility. Maintain the Tyre pressure as 30 PSI ( 29 PSI is recommended by Honda ) for rear Tyre and 25 PSI for front. I have observed most of the people keep more than 35 PSI at rear Tyre. This is very dangerous as it increases the chances of skidding on the road. By reading these points one can ask me, why did you go for Unicorn if you are so conscious about mileage and so on? My Answer is simple. Buying 150CC vehicle does not mean, I always need to accelerate and maintain 60 + KMPH. I will do that when I need. Rest of the time I will be a responsible fellow rider. Thanks a lot for your patience. I will be very happy if you find my experience useful.Read More

What I don’t like in Unicorn: One thing here is Headlight: I don’t like its shape, it’s chrome fairing. I Some how like Old unicorn headlight. The head light reflector is from Lumax, same as Hero honda, Stock bulb is Philips Germany, even then the head light brightness is less than some of the ot...her bikes. Focus is also very poor. TVS bikes had excellent headlights even TVS star out performs unicorn in this aspect. Second thing is horn, I have added second horn just to answer auto rickshaws. Final words: Unicorn is still one of the best choices for my kind of requirements. Suzuki GS 150 may have close Characteristics. But if I move mileage bit down in my requirements, I always go for CBZ Xtream or Hunk, as they are more stylish, and expected to be Same quality ( Most of the parts are from same vendors for both Honda and hero honda ) Avoid purchasing accessories from the dealer. Most of them are priced 2 to 3 times more than market. Number plates cost about Rs 150 from dealer where as out side they are available for 50. Handle grips priced 125 to 150 at dealers, out side max Rs 50 for very good quality. Don’t take Teflon coating ( Rs 500 ), not required for any bike, if it is required Honda will do it for us. During services, almost all the dealer will charge us for Nulon oil ( they say that they add in the engine oil, which makes engine smooth. They charges another Rs 125 for that. First of all, whether Honda does not know what is good for their bikes? Who are these people to add that? They will do that with out informing customer and charges in the bill, most of the Activa people are very dumb at technology and simply pay that, Second thing is who has seen whether they have really added that in your engine oil or not?) I think these changes will add more value to Unicorn: 1. Engine Kill switch is missing on all Honda as well as Hero Honda bikes. This allows us to save fuel at signal stops.Read More

Part3: I have pointed this to the same supervisor who has talked to me during the first service. I still doubt that the service people had done this intentionally, because i have not seen any unicorn with such a poor paint quality. Then he has told me to keep the vehicle in the service station for ...another 3 days. I immediately blasted on him and came with my vehicle saying that i will talk to Honda. I have shared these photos to honda through the website saying it is a product defect. Their response is very good. I don’t know what happened between honda personals and silicon honda and to my surprise On the third day I got a call from silicon honda service supervisor saying that they have received a completely new tank from honda and will replace. They have replaced the tank, and that is the last ever service I got from them, later I never dared to get another service from silicon honda. After that Four services happened from haiku honda, no bad things happened after that, haiku honda service is not that bad at the same time not good also. I usually top up the engine oil by another 150ml after each service. Now the bike is as smooth as new one and I am completely satisfied with Honda support and the vehicle also. The supervisor at haiku honda had a very bad opinion on software people in Bangalore ( i am one such software guy). He used to tell that these ( software ) people will write all the nonsense on net and they don’t even know ABCD of bike. I agree, there are people who apply driving license after purchasing the bike. This does not mean every one is like this. I have purchased unicorn and made one of my friend also to purchase unicorn only based on these reviews.Read More

Part3: 8. Chain: My chain tightness is uneven, some places it is very tight, while at other places it has a play for 1 inch. ( I have never pointed this in my services as it is my recent observation ). Is this a feature or problem? Tell me if you have observed similar problem. 9. Initially, i... got some strange sound when I apply front disk break, also breaking is not linear. In the first service they have rectified saying that break pad need to be worn for some time. Now there is no problem. Disk break is very linear, and can be controlled with just one finger. 10. The sound you listen is very different ( little bit harsh )when you sit on the bike and accelerate free in neutral. Bike sounds smooth when we stand beside or behind the bike. because this is very silent bike you can hear other sounds like chain very easily while driving. 11. Service is improving but still not good. I had initial 2 services from Silicon Honda ( bad experience ). As any other new bike owner I had several complaints in the first service almost 10 problems are listed out. ( Now these days not even a single point to list out when I go for service, but Still I write like loose chain etc..) . As usual I had a fight with silicon Honda’s first service though most of the problem are minor. Head light focus is very poor in unicorn. They have not done any thing for that. Similar problems. I have complained to Honda from their Website. To my surprise they never let me down. Immediately i got a call from Silicon Honda supervisor and had done some service at his personal supervision ( he said, but noting changed except the way they talk to me became very polite). Second service, the memorable for me. To my surprise I have lost lacquering on my tank when i went to take my vehicle from silicon Honda. Review continued here..( plz excuse me, I have truncated and framing is not proper as there is a word limit for the review) Part2: 4. Ride is very smooth. Smoother than most of the bikes. In some reviews people have exaggerated that Unicorn has 0% vibrations. No matter, no machine can work wi...th 0% vibrations particularly automobile even Benz or BMW. I have observed that my unicorn is very smooth until 40 KMPH ( very minimum vibrations can be observed at handlebars, foot pegs, but fuel tank vibrates little bit). After 50 KMPH the vibrations will increase to noticeable range and reach max at 60 KMPH, and stays at same level even at 90 KMPH. Overall at any speed vibrations are less than other bikes. 5. Gear shifting: Up shift is really smooth. Down shift is also good but it slips when we want to down shift rapidly holding the clutch, one has to release clutch slightly to reengage the gears. 6. Kick start is very smooth. Initially I thought it will be even harder than passion, but it is on the other side, I can manage even if self start stops working. 7. I lost my speedometer at 11000 KM ( when I drove it on Mysore Highway above 80 KMPH for almost 20 minutes continuously ). After that It stayed at 50 KMPH even at complete halt. Later rectified free of cost by Honda service, working fine till now. Any how i feel it is not expected from this kind of quality product. Analog speedometer is not accurate on any bike or even on car, always shows equal or more than actual speed. And there will be a time lag in analog speedo. So 0-60 figures we observe are always more than actual. Read More

Dear prince_sahay, I still feel there is very little choice while choosing 125cc bikes, You can go for a stunner if it suits your personality. Don’t fool yourself by opting Bajaj products. Can’t explain you with much details, but They are good for initial one year or for the first 15000 KMS,... After that you will see the actual colors of your bike, Hell lot of problems and your maintenance shoots up, you can always buy a new bike with the maintenance cost.Read More
