I too have 1968 Fiat 1100D..my father's car..learnt driving in that..still has the car in very gud condition...will not sell..it..hope I will teach driving to my kids also in the same car! Also did some stress testing on it..by driving to Chennai from Kerala & back last year..max speed 65kmph.....did not want to go higher...as its too much to expect from an Old lady!! It never complained..mind that it was during the summer in Chennai..42 degress celsius.. So my mantra is be it any car..if you know your car well & do preventive maintenance..it will serve you without any probs.. Hope u know that Skoda Octavia with its 1900cc engine has mileage of 19kmpl.. So its not the cc of engine that determines mileage but the amount of refinement & technlogy that goes into making it..so I feel you are just mad about foolish propoganda of patriotism.. And above all FIAT is the... pioneer in diesel CRDi technology..if you dont know that..its not my problem!! And will you disagree with me if I say that Indica has been copied from Palio.. :-)) buy orginal...rather than wasting money on duplicates!! I’m reading people here comparing the Indica with Palio Diesel and saying Indica is not a good car. I want to ask them 5 questions 1) On what basis are you comparing a 1900CC car with 1400CC car ? The basis is becos TATA has given a diesel hatchback at 1400cc while Palio D is 1900cc. It is... a horrendous mistake to put a lower capacity diesel engine so as to reduce cost. So what will happen? after say 1 lac km..Indica engine will develop all sorts of issues..so only way out is to sell it. But while Palio will be as young as it was..so people wont sell it..but they use..so whos got value for money. 2) What is the price difference between Palio Diesel and Indica Diesel ? Naturally u need to pay more for higher capacity & refined engine. Nobody gives it for free. 3) What is the Kms per litre for Palio Diesel ? It is 13 km in city & 19km in highways for a litre of diesel. 4) Are there sufficient service stations for Palio ? Yes..its not as in number as maruti or Hyundai..but FIAT India is introducing more dealers now. 5) What is the cost of spare parts of Palio compared to Indica ? Cost of spare parts are less for palio than indica. please buy a oil filter for indica & Palio and see the difference. And last...keep an Indica & Palio side by side..start indica engine & Palio engine..u can hear a tractor engine sound for Indica & for Palio..U wont know whether it has been switched on... No wonder Palio is clearly the winner of all comparisons by car enthusiasts...Car of year too... I doubt whether Indica has been once??Read More

Yes..if actual power is more..the manufacturer is at his luxury to add more add ons like higher capacity AC, power steering, power assited brakes..with a balance on mileage also..then who is benefitting..the buyer..becos he gets more value for money. In Maruti udyog site http://wagonr.marutiudyo...g.com/comparisons.asp why cant they compare it with Palio??? :-) In that site they say 16 bit computer(wagon R) has more intelligent & faster engine response than 8 bit computer(Xing). Then what abt 32bit of Palio!!! If one automag is trying to sell Palio I can understand..but if all says that Palio beats Wagon R in all aspects...It can be true right? Coming to the number of Palios on road..its less...but it has been attributed to the fact that still people feel that its marketed by PAL..but its FIAT India now..altogether a different cmpny.Read More

Well..my family (my father) have been owning FIAT products since 1968! Starting from FIAT 1100D (1968) to Palio 1.2 ELX (2001). We still have the old FIAT 1100D & the Palio. I have been using FIAT 1100D in Chennai during by PG. Let me know that I have driven this 35 yr old FIAT from my na...tive (Kerala) till Chennai (800kms) & after completing studies back to native. I chennai I used to service it with TVSExpress & they were quite competent & helpful. Well coming to latest FIAT product of our family..we service it with TVS Cochin & they do often call up & enquire abt the car & remind about the pending service. It is that,no matter any vehicle, you should know it in & out, service it regularly. If u dont do that ur purse will get empty. Well my friend you are pointing to the days of Premier Padmini when there were poor after service. Also FIAT sp...ares are cheaper than others. Iam getting 13kmpl in city & 16-17 in highways..U cant ask more for a car that weighs 1300kg.
