Uggh! But where do you get such interesting info? lovely revu as usual. I remember the film so well - and Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable were so good! You know the scene where she picks up the soil and says ....As God is my witness, I shall never go hungry again ( if my memory serves me well) - tha...t sent shivers through me. I suppose it is a tribute to the grit of the early american settlers. love moumeetaRead More

was a very successful effort. The story was wonderful - brave and sympathetic instead of being righteous. Sharmila and Rajesh really looked good together. Rajesh deserved to be a superstar - he had this larger-than-life presence on screen. unfortunately he has not been able to maintain his image in ...public today - unlike dilip kumar and the inimitable Bacchan. :) moumeetaRead More

intimidation of citizens by political parties is a serious threat to democracy ; unfortunately it happens openly here in india, creating more fear. the message is : don't you dare speak up, or these are the consequences you'll have to face. when celebrities with all their contacts can be so targette...d, the common man gets the mesage that he cannot trust the system to hear him out. however, in recent times the media has been making a small attempt to not merely report news but defend and highlight the righteous. Sardesai's show on Aamir did that. After the Jessica Lal case, the media is definitely looking a lot less irresponsible. The mai-baap sarkaar will take a long time to choke on its own arrogance but actually having two very strong parties helps a country in the long run. I hope both the Congress and the BJP mature in the future and tackle their individual shortcomings. God knows we have miles of genuine issues to be dealing with. take care thanks for your comment moumeetaRead More

5: Like Aamir said yesterday whether it is Islamic terrrorism that takes people's lives or something else that threatens the common man, he will definitely come out against it. His being a muslim has nothing to do with his stance on the rehabilitation issue. 6. He said that he has received many enc...ouraging messages from his colleagues and is confident of their approval - though he is not seeking it. He has taken an individual stand and does not expect bollywood to do anything dramatic on the issue. On the other hand he was dismissive of the idea that he is somehow superior to his Bollywood colleagues becuase of what he is doing. 7. There are causes and then there are causes. Right now he is in amire defending his right to say something on an issue. When the media asks him where he stands on the issue of the striking doctors we'll know. And for good measure they can ask him where he stands on every issue in the country. But I hope he gets tme to do his one movie a year at least. I liked discussing this with you Ketul. You wouldn't agree with me on this issue. But I hope we can agree to disagree. Peace MoumeetaRead More

thanks for the comment and your restraint. I really appreciate your not giving a negative rating. Incidentally, I had come across your revu yesterday and wanted to leave a comment expressing my thoughts on the issues you raised. Let me do that here now. First of all, I must mention that I have no... quarrel with your opinion on Aamir. You think his take on the situaion is dubious. fair enough. But the controversy actually stems from the fact that as a citizen, he is being targetted in a lumpen manner for simply saying something he believes in. That is illegal. Why should the screening of his film be stopped if he happens to hold an opinion on a social issue. This is unconstituional and illegal. Medha Patkar is a person you clearly detest. Aamir clearly states that he is not supporting her per se. He is simply saying that please do rehabilitate the farmers. point no 3 - Just because this particular issue has caught his attention doesn't mean that he automatically has to support everything Medha ever did or is going to do. His stance has nothing to do with her. This is an issue that caught Aamir's attention, and caused him to come out in support of the farmers. Is that such a bad thing? 4: Coca Cola not giving land in MP for rehabilitation. This is a company motivitaed by profit as is every other business entity. It is the governments duty to rehabilitate people who are displaced by it's actions; not hated neighbourhood MNC's. 5:Read More

The Union Jack knights Aamir! Cool. Thanks a lot for the comment. Aamir is definitely going to go down as a cinematic legend - in the meantime we are going to love watching him on celluloid giving 'character' to the various roles he plays. take care

'...and so many lives were painfully wasted by the indian caste system' - that's what a good revu has - a pespective. had read mostly negative revus from critics here. but now i would love to catch up on this film. and yes, earth was brilliant!

My first trip as a member of Club Mahindra was to their retreat at Ooty. The acco itself was impressive - a converted danish villa. An uncluttered colonial decor makes this property of theirs an interesting place to stay in. We stayed for a week and couldn't get enough of marvellous Ooty. Fro...Read more
