Hi KinKin, I believe your calculations are correct. If you check the prices of Orange County Resort, Kumarakom Lake Resort, Leela etc you might find them even worse VFM. Two doubts. First, I believe the cheaper rooms available through travel portals are standard rooms which are of lesser quali...ty (max 2 adults and no dry kitchenette) than the Studio apartment I get ( 2 adults and 2 children and a microwave dry kitchenette). For me, self made food is always better than the restaurant food. Same with my wife. And the grocery buying is a good experience to know the local people from close quarters. Secondly, I am not aware of Club Mahindra, Ooty. It is not present in their website and also when I went to Ooty I found that Zest has a small hotel there but not CM. Although Zest is a part of Mahindra group it has no relation with Club Mahindra. Club Mahindra's main property are in Goa, Coorg, Munnar which are quite good.Read More

Hi Dedkik, yes, the annual fees is a big drawback. For me now, as I have completed my membership fees the annual fees of 1K / N is the only outgo for the next 24 yrs. Sure the fees is going to increase every year but as it is based on inflation it will same as 7k is today. Hi KinKin, I like to ...visit places during offpeak times when there is less crowd. So New Year, Diwali and similar times are not for me. I went to Ooty during Feb '07 when the prices are a little higher than June-Sep(Monsoon). At the same time my friend also went to Sterling Resorts. He booked through Cleartrip and got a cheaper price than me ( ~1300/N). But there was a difference in the accomodation. He was given a Hotel Unit which is in the main building where you feel more like being in a hotel rather than a resort. I was given a Studio Unit in the member's area. I was also given a full fledged kitchen with all necessary utensils which I made good use of. Thanks for your wishes.Read More

Well, I will write about my case. I took a Studio-White ( neither offpeak nor high peak season) from CM for 1.82 lacs. The payment was to be done over a period of 1 year with 15% down payment and the remaining in 12 EMIs at 0% interest. I got a digital video camera ( I actually required it) the... market value of which at that time was not less than 20K. I got food vouchers ( can be used only in CM) for 6K ( worth it). I got 1 week international holiday free. I used it locally for Ooty in Sterling Resorts. I verified the price and it is 7 * 2500 = 17.5K. I got 6 nights domestic holiday in CM which I used in Coorg and Munnar ( Gold Crown resorts). The price will not be less than 6 * 3000 = 18 K. I made the payment using credit card where I got cash back of 2K. So, in effect the package price is 1.82 lacs - 20K - 6K - 17.5K -18K -2K= 1.18 lacs. For me it is a good deal. RCI charges doesn't affect me as I go to only CM resorts. CM has about 13-14 resorts and they keep the number increasing. In the worst case I will have to revisit the same resort after a gap of 13-14 yrs. Read More
