Gagan.... Guide is subjective term... i m not sure if i am eligible to guide or not.. but i will share my view as i have done in my article so far...
Recently, i drove swift tdci, wow wat a engine... gear shift is like ummmmm makhhaannnn... cluch is ultra soft.... Dash board is contemporaty...

but then y m i driving IKON TDCI, which is 10 year old model...
Yes, swift is new baby but then look at this, my friend has done 10k KM in 9 month and i m done with 13 KM in 10 month. Swift give an average of 17-19 on highway n best that i have got till date is 24.8 km/ltr.
Dec last week i went to goa from bangalore, maintained speed of 70-100 and got an average of 24.8.
while coming back from goa to bangalore, i was cruising at 80-145 and i got mileage of 20.5.
I went to goa with a 2 year old kid and car was just owesome and comfortable on all kind of road. the kid was comfortable through 1600km journey. I dont think u will ever feel this with desire kind (i mean hatch back) of vehicle.
now coming back to guide. C wat u want. u want.
u get ikon for 6+, ikon, a car desiged to be a sedan. and u also get hatch at same rate... n trust me at the end of the day a hatch is hatch and a sedan is a sedan.
even though its 10 yr old model , people do give u a look if u come out of ikon as ikon was know to be owned by higher segment of society. though, thats not the story now, but ikon does give u a more feel good.
Above all,,, drive it......
ya one slightly negative thing.. the steering is really hard as its hydrolic power steering.. where as swift kind of vehicle are ulra light to drive.... but ikon is ikon..... at 150 ur car stays on road and it doesnot even shake....

folks...just finished 7700 km of drive and my 2nd free service after 6 month.... it cost me less than 1500....hmmm....
again over all average 19-20... last week i was on highway for 375 km rage....mostly driving at 80-95.... at times going beyond 140..... i got an average of 22+ with AC....

folks .. could not post any info on my machine in last 2 month... was quite busy...yes latest is, i m getting consistent 19.5 km/ltr.. fuel is from shell .. always....
morning, i drive from padmanabhnagar to hebbal.. bumber to bumber drive all the ways cutting across sp road,corporation, mekhri c...ircle...
evening usually i leave office after 8.00 pm..so a bit eased traffic....thats my driving condition... AC is on for 50 % of time... the purpose of AC is not cooling but to avoid suffocating condition as i drive most of the time with glass rolled up....Read More

i do understand and agree that this may be the case/story of past. But wat do u say abt Skoda, GM and their A S S .
And Please do not copare with MAruthi's Network and ASS...
YA one thing, i must appreciate Maruti for the kind of care they give to their customer. I do not have too much experia...nce with too many auto makers. But still i feel MAruti guys are too good.
Regarding ford, i own ikon since last few month n so far i m pleased with their behavior.Read More

congratulations......
i am sure you would enjoy it.... just try to understand the response of engine for few days and then adjust ur driving accordingly....
just to bring more smile on ur face.. today i filled again till neck n my calculations says 528km in 26 litre... amaz...inggggg... that come to around 20.... even if thats wrong and i reduce 2 KM of average .. it would be 18.... and 18 by no mean is bad.....

guys, here's another update from me.... remember one of my earlier post i said i met with accident recently.... u know wats the bill....it total around 6.5k ... n i had to pay around 700 rest all by insurance guys....
This the least i have ever paid for any insurance claim in last 5 years.....

Guys while repairing ,,, i also got my first servicing done.... and vehicle is almost smooth.... i say almost cos i still tend to compare it with my 4 yrears of wagonR drive...
my comment after one minor accident due to which i had to replace front lower arm(2.5 k, a genuine one... not at all costly ,, u would understand once u c that arm which connect to ur wheel),another minor accident with dent on body with total bill of 6.5k and me paying 700 and finally the first free service (not even a single rupee)...
I would say... IKON is superior product for the rate at which it is offerred and good to have if its backed by the good after sale service.
So far i am lucky to get good treatment by the dealer... lets keep fingers crossed for the mile to drive....
I am planning totest this vehicle for its reliability ... i m planning to drive it to leh from bangalore.....through valleys of himachal.. that willl prove the reliability of this car.. just for reference... I drove my wagonR from bangalroe to Bihar, driving 2600 KM , non-stop , except for break at dhaba's for food.... total 60 hrs of drive...i shall be comparing IKON to match atleast with WagonR.Read More

I wont comment on service as i m not yet done with first service... my meter show around 4000 KM, my vehicle rolled off showromm on 4th April.
I had one small accident on some thing really big.. stone like stuff and m front suspention arm was changed .. no fault of Ford atall and during ...that time i got good attention from .... mind u that acident happened on afernoon sunday.....
second incident, yesterday, i met with an accident and left part of car is badly dmaged, i went to metro ford and they gave me proper attention and care that i would expect. Yesterday, i even wen to the lingarajpuram workshop and got proper attention there as well...
ya its expensive as compare to maruti, as i had 5 accidents with my wagonR in 4 years, worst was where i had to get the rear (5th) door get replaced and that had cost me around 17k.
and for the accident that happened yesterday with my ikon, the estimate is around 14k, for repainting and tinkering of dent.
I would definitely say, its not at the cheaper side. u got to be ready mentally that if u r buying a car it may meet accident, dents and it may malfunction... accept these. it happens with any damn car...
but performance wise..its good car... my latest reading on 12th june 09 says that i m getting 19 + in bumber to bumper in bagalore, for bangaloreans, i drive from hanumanthnagar to hebbal at arond 9.00 am.
in nutshell, i m not commenting on ford service but i can comment on metro ford, they are good, so far, this is my experiance in 2 month, however, 2 month can b too early to comment.Read More

hi All one more update, recently, i filled my car wit hShell diesel, they said they dont have normal diesel and turbo/refined/power etc, they said they have one type of diesel only.. yet i got my car filled.... wen i get my car filled, i make sure that i get it filled till its neck.. usually the dis...penser, seems to have an auto cut kind ofmechanist, which stop the fuel supply once it reaches certain level in ur fuel tank.... however, i insist that the tank is filled till its neck... n trust me after auto cut the fuel can accomodate around 7-8 more litre of fuel...
Ok.. now the reason y i m posting this commet..... with shell i got an average of 19.9 km/litre in city drive.. amazing...... not sure if it was accidently that the car is performing well.. will keep posting.... bt average is improving from 15 kmpl from first full tank fill till latest 19.9 kmpl...

Hey Vipul is that a simmering discontent deep with in u thats coming out for Ford. I did read ur post on ur spark.
I do agree that so many bloggers,who have been complaining abt ford, cannot be wrong but remember ford is now almost a decade old in india and it cannot do that if they r just BAD at... their business.
Till the date i was driving WagonR i hardly used to spot ford cars but now after owning Ikon TDCI i am a bit concious abt ford presence here in bangalore and i do c that ikon out numbers cars of same league like esteem and accent in bagalore road. Similary u will see fiesta on bangalore road evey 100 mtr of drive though u can feel presence verna as well,equally or even more at times. What i mean to say is that ford might have had bad A S S in past and may not have A S S as good as maruti but have definitely improved and are much better compare to their past record. And after reading ur own post i can say they r not the worst in indian auto industry.

Folks, Sunday i took the car for drive to Shivasamudram. got mileage of 24(approx) and touched 145 speed . and At 120 the vehicle is sooooooooo stable that it feels as if u r cruising at 80..... overall satisfied with performance.... FE... as told by most of the bloggers at different blogging site, ...is really amazing..... 15(city) to 24(highway)...just owesome.. imaging 5 person going for 500 km trip..it would be damnnnnnnnn cheap... i would say this car is worth the money i paid.....
One more thing... while on the way from shivasamudra... one fiesta TDCI over toook me too fast ..just zippppppppppppppppppppppppppp..... just for sake of testing performance of my ikon tdci with fiesta TDCI (ya i know both has same engine) i started racing and took him at 130...... and trust me u can catch Fiesta tdci with ikon tdci any day u want... probably due to light weight the weight/power ration is more with ikon.....
One more thing .. for all the bloggers who have compared ikon tdci with swift deisel and said that iknon tdci does not go beyong 110 comfortably and that swift deisel is clear winner... i would say they neeed to change their view.... i reached 145 with ease,,, and with my 40k km of drive experiance i can say that had i wanted my car could have gone till 150 to 155.....i know thats extremely dangerous......but still for comparison.... i can vouch for ikon tdci for its engine alone at this stage... i m not commenting on its build or A S S....thats yet to be tested..... but yes the drive was comfortable as we were 4 adult and a kid of 19 month old.... every one felt v v comfortable..Read More

Guys...... v r real quick in commenting on any thing even though our knowledge might be narrow.
I own Wagon R and love it.. just love it.. But fact .. Wasnt wagon R an old model by suzuki launced in india..... isnt estilo not a phased out model launced in india..... TATA.. i admire MR RAtan Tata........ and he is always ahead of time.. so no comments on TATA.... but reliability comes at cost.. r v paying such a cost to tata wen v buy tata products.... u pay u get the quality u want.. dont forget... that indica and sumo still sells like rocket in india.. Guys dont forget the socio-economic condition in which these cars are sold.....
wat would u say abt the ugly looks of qualis which toyota had launced.. still it sold like any thing.......
