I appreciate your frank approach but hope this helps in clearing some points:
1)If not for Sourav there would be no Harbhajan,Kaif,Yuvraj ,Srinath etc in team today.This shows he has lots of faith in his players and he is the most communicative captain with no ego clashes with his fellow players ...like in the past like Azhar ,Sunny-Kapil etc
2)The slip catch I suppose was a freak call and even I thought that it was a catch in first instance until the replay was shown on TV.So I dont think it was done on purpose,infact this appeal is nothing compared to the filthy tactics adopted by captians of SA, Aus,Pakis etc.Its all part of the modern game .
3) Providing guidance- I dont think captain needed to advice senior bowlers(who are on the verge of retiring from cricket) like srinath ,how to bowl .Bowlers were getting their basics totally wrong like extras ,full-toss and there was nothing one can do when your basics are shaken,but just console and resign to the fact thinking it is an offday.Talking ,screaming and advicing at that stage would have just put additional pressure on the bowlers.
4) Electing to bowl was a fair decisison .This decision just showed his immense faith he had in his bowlers .Even a score of 280-300 was a fighting score but 360 with 5-6 extra overs was too much for asking!
5)When it comes to on-field attitude no one can point a finger at this captain .You have just missed out his earlier games !
6) Batting - I agree ,we should have played more positively or maybe 360 score was a dampening psychological factor !
Overall it was a big achievement or LUCK, that Ganguly made it to this stage of the tournament with this kind of a team!WE needed more competitive matches in earlier part of the tournament to play this big match,we played all inferior or out of form sides giving us a false boosting and it was a cake walk for us till finals! Let me rephrase what you have said:
We will win resoundingly against underdogs ,and on home turf(!!) and will continue to loose pathetically against the stronger teams.Whenever Windies and Aussies reigned surpeme they were very consistent in their performance, and even when they lost it would be ...not without a tough fight.
I dont think we deserve to win the world cup and i dont want our team to win it by sheer stroke of luck ,its like deva gowda becoming PM ,even he is embrassed to think himself in the highest echelons of power.Champions should have some substance ,charecter etc.The only thing our team can do is to save the face by winning against Pak by hook or crook ,and other matches it doesnt matter .
Until we dont change the casual outlook towards the sport ,we may never succed.It should be fought with a tough gritty resolve like a battle and not with an attitude that afterall its a sport and on a given day anyone can win .

we lack allrounders,we lack opening bowlers,we have a good batting lineup that looks invincible only on paper,this team has nothing ,but still fans think we are among the top 3, indians are blinded by cricket craze.
We win a couple of matches against underdogs at home and think we are on the top ...of the world.

indian team always looks great on paper ,never on field.I will not be surprised if they finish somewhere in the bottom next to bangladesh and other newbies.

shafi ,we arguably have the best captain in the history of Indian cricket,better than Kapil or anybody,so need to touch him.
spookay,I think Windies batting was far more superior than us and even with the 'quality' you are talking of, we struggle consistently to beat Windies and even ZImb.

I too want India to do well ,but i cant BET on them confidently on any given day,that is the big problem.
Sachin can thrash McGrath,but how about the parade at the other end?

Conditions not conducive for Mcgraths types in India, you are wrong,just have a look at our neighbouring country good for nothing,Pakistan ,they produce them in truckloads .

Big win against Aussies,SA ,Pak i will agree,but not against Zimb,England,Windies,Kiwis .Cool down Jatt,Indian fans have always rooted for the team thick and thin ,and they have more support than they need ,and that has been the bane.
Yapper,many players were out of team in last matches ,not in i...nitial matches and series should have been wrapped up much earlier and should not have prolonged till the end.Btw, just wait for some months,you will know the mettle of newbies ,but remember this review.
Yuvi ,I bet he will fail in SA or abroad ,those pyroctechncis will work only in India ,Kaif is new so I will reserve my comments.
Just-did-it: Losing against a team like Windies on hometurf ,just shows the appaling depths of our team.Aussies may have kicked the a** of this spineless windies team ,and wiped the slate clean.Being among top 4 is no good,only top 2 has any meaning.Afterall after 4 ,all that remains is the filtered out loosers.
