Super review...I liked Brad Pitt though..I thought the comedy act was more effective than if he had played it straight...also, perhaps the ridiculous accent was meant not only to typify him as an Everyman American but also to avoid unconditional validation of America by subtly poking fun at it...Mic...hael Fassbender was remarkable in his 10min role...and Christoph Waltz, of course, was geniusRead More

I have just received a message in my inbox from someone who seems to be the resort owner telling me that Sea Princess does not need to employ anybody like myself and it's 'sad and unfortunate that agents like (me) are there to take undue advantage'. Ms Reviewer & your fellow hotel hosts - please und...erstand that I, along with everyone else who has read this review, am not asking the hotel to employ me in any way. Nor do I see how my comment can be construed as 'taking advantage'. Dont write a review on a public forum if you cant handle the responses. Also, perhaps you might want to explain to the lady who sent me the bewildering message that I commented on your review and not on her hotel. Perhaps she doesnt understand EnglishRead More

'We have stopped business with them' - ergo, you are employed by the resort? That really defeats the entire purpose of a review which, by definition, can only be undertaken by somebody on the outside looking in. So, while what you say might be true, your review lacks credibility. Sadly for you.

The H2G2 movie sucks. Jules Verne was ahead of his time. But his fiction was validated after the fact of scientific advancement - i.e the invention of the submarine took him into the annals of science, rather than simply science fiction. However, before the fact, his fiction would have been filed un...der A for absurd as well. By the same token, if we do find a means to invisibilty or time travel in the foreseeable future, HG Wells will also go from fantasy to scientific truth. That's really what science fiction is all about - pushing the boundaries of possibility, reality, imagination. So a little harsh to write off any sci-fi author, hallowed or otherwise, as absurd I thinkRead More

Thanks much. This is my favourite among all straight literature. If Harper Lee hadnt existed she would have had to be invented. I'm glad she never wrote another book because it would be a shame for Mockingbird to be subjected to criticism by comparison as it would inevitably have been

How indeed. I suspect if I were to write a proper review of H2G2 it would rival the trilogy in length

No certainly it's quite impossible for any movie to be an exact rendition of the source book. I was bewildered by both the bits they left in and also the bits they left out. The book has a unique position in the series as its sets up the climax, the film seemed to be essentially in limbo since it ha...s no higher purpose to serve other than simply continue the franchise. I really think Prizoner of Azkaban remains unmatched. No idea why Cuaron was dropped. That said, Jim Broadbent has immortalized Slughorn in the Potter pantheon. It's worth watching the movie just for him and RonRead More

It's year 6 at Hogwarts - a very eventful year, as it proves. In no particular order: Harry helps Dumbledore recruit Slughorn as the new Potions master. Dumbledore puts Harry to work prising a Tom Riddle-related memory out of Slughorn. They discover that Voldemort may have created a Horcrux o...Read more

Fiction is called fiction precisely because it's not real. Not sure whether you actually understand the concept of story, which is what all 7 Harry Potter books are. You seem to view the series as simply a symptom of consumerism - that is a failure on your part, not on the part of the books. I hated... the last book and my review was negative but your's is biased, uninformed and plainly ridiculous since you've reviewed a book without even reading it.Read More

I like that your review is objective - which is more than I can say for most of the others which arent reviews at all, just bits of the plot and effusions of how much they loved it without saying why. Personally I hated the book and felt pretty much as betrayed by the terrible writing as Voldemort m...ust have felt by the revelation of Snape. Read my reviewRead More

Alas for JK Rowling. Like Voldemort she failed to foresee that it could only end badly. The thing about writing an episodic story is that, unless you are Tolkien or Douglas Adams, you are going to run out of steam at some point. The author commits many crimes against writing in this final boo...Read more

You dont need superpowers when you've got a bullwhip, a fedora and your name is Indiana Jones.
