We were cheated by INHABIT furniture store in Hyderabad. The store owner sold a poor quality "leather sofa" which was torn in less than 6 months! We refused to get cheated and filed a consumer court against the store owner.
Guess what, things work in India - if you have persistence. We won the case at district level and also at state level. The court directed the owner to pay the complete amount we spent. It took us about 7 months and 5-7 court hearings. We did not hire any lawyer and spent about Rs. 800 as litigation/printout/photocopy costs.
We are yet to receive the money but it is only a matter of time now.
