Videocon DTH - Poor service

By: pumashan | Posted Jan 16, 2011 | General | 821 Views

We own Videocon DTH for little under a year. We also own tatasky since 2005. Tata sky is used in multiple rooms[digilink] while Videocon is only in a guest bedroom.

Since the guest bedroom TV is connected to gaming devices, the dominant use is only Wii than anything else. We ran out of videocon subscription charge sometime back and did not heed to recharge as the use was zilch.

Recently, I was advised that the Videocon can also accept netbanking recharge etc. I promptly did the same as I always have done for tatasky...... then came the bouquet of surprises.

  1. The amount that is instantly debited from my bank amount does not charge my Videocaon subscription account as does Tatasky

  2. When a surprised me rang up Videocon DTH callcentre, the polite phone officer tells me that it will take 36 hours to charge my account. He has no idea why, but thats how it is. Would it have worked if I got a scratch card voucher and read out the number to him, yes it would have. Thats my Bad, I thought overestimating the ability of Videocon to stay benchmarrked to industry practices. I also posted the feedback on eternally painful survey form in the videocon dth onlinesite as well.

  3. I call up 42 hours later, seeing the amount still not reflecting in my account. a polite officer tells me this time after taking my transaction code[ was lucky to have it, something told me to save the transaction screenshot~maybe its videocon] that he will get back to me 9 hours later on the issue and he has taken the complaint.

  4. I must say known devil is anyday better and Videocon has miles to catch up, cost is not the only way to get consumers. In all these transaction there was not a single exchange of costs of service. I am not sure if the Videocon has the got the right levers to hit the market.
