Rachana (a special creation of God)

It was the month of March. My work schedule was pretty hectic due to it. After a tiring day at the office, I reached home and after taking a shower, took my dinner and unlike me due to the tiredness, I retired to bed early at 10. In my sleep at a particular juncture, I dreamt a scene. It was a dream not quite uncommon. A beautiful young lady seeming to be in her early twenties was taking a stroll around a small stream. She had a very fair complexion. Her hair was curly and dark black in colour. She was thin and tall, but the most attractive feature which added to her beauty and charm were her pear shaped eyes. They seemed deep like an ocean. She wore an enchanting and somewhat mysterious smile on her face. My dream was interrupted by a large thud that came from outside. I woke up, gingerly got up and went towards my balcony where I saw that the construction work outside my building had already started. It was 7 in the morning. I had slept well and was feeling light and relaxed, but the dream that I had seen was puzzling me, particularly due to the young lady that I had witnessed in it. She was so extra ordinarily beautiful that I muttered to myself that she must definitely be a special “Rachana” (creation) of God. I jerked my thoughts in a while and geared myself up for the upcoming day and once I got engrossed in my usual work, I slowly forgot about my beautiful dream.

After 15 days, on a sweltering day, after finishing my office work, I was heading back home as usual. I entered the platform of the railway station for catching a train for my destination. As I was walking through the platform to reach towards my bogey, far away from the opposite direction, I saw a young lady approximately in her early twenties approaching. I casually glanced at her from far and when she came a little bit close, I was in for a shock, she looked just like the Rachanathat had come in my dream 15 days back, same face and features. For a moment I just couldn’t believe what I was seeing in front of me. I felt like I was in a trance and my senses blacked out, my heart started beating fast and as she came exactly besides me I felt jolted from within as she was the same Rachanaof my dream apart from one thing, she was blind.

She was wearing black goggles and had a small flexible stick in her hand. She was wearing a white t-shirt and jeans and yes she surely looked beautiful, just like the Rachanaof my dream and I said to myself, strange and inexplicable are the ways of destiny and God. Before I could think any further, suddenly I saw that she had precariously moved towards the edge of the platform and was walking dangerously on its side. I, without losing a second rushed towards her, pulled her hand and moved her aside to safety. If I had even reacted a second late, she might have fallen on the railway tracks. She reacted by saying a thanks to me and then she walked away. I just looked and looked at her from behind until she was out of sight. I was left flabbergasted and bewildered completely. I had met the same Rachanaof my dream, but with a difference. I realized that sometimes reality can be far bitterer than fiction. From that day till now, many times I have thought about that incident and once at my home, I even closed my eyes and tried to walk for 10 seconds, but believe me friends, I gave up after walking for only 2/3 seconds due to the fear of bumping myself with anyone. I paused for a while after that and then immediately took a decision that I will pledge my eyes,so that when I cease to exist, may be at least one Rachanawill be benefitted due to it and then that day my fictional dream will surely turn in to reality.

I dedicate this post to the millions of blind people who exist in this world who carry on their lives with full zeal, zest and dignity, without complaining to their creator. I say that the way in which they carry on their lives despite being visually impaired proves that they are super humans. I salute them for their forever undying spirit.

Peace, tranquility and equality to all.
