Muthanallur Lake

Muthanallur village – an alluring beauty just a few hours away from the maddening city life of Bangalore. One of my friends stays there and I just thought to spend a day with her. The place is well connected with other parts of the city by road and rail. Muththu means pearl and nalu is paddy. Paddy used to be the major crop here. These days, however, Ragi is the preferred one since it consumes less water. The landscape started changing once we crossed Chandapura – waterbodies and greenery. However, I came to know that the Chandapura lake habitat is now grappling with poisonous industrial waste. Once we left the Sharjapur- Chandapura connector at Muthanallur circle, I could smell the dew drops on the grassland and aroma of Eucaliptus leaves. As we walked down the lanes, mane curious voices kept asking my friend about me. Villages are much more socialistic. Each one is aware of the other’s life. Difficult to attain privacy but then no complain of loneliness either.

Once we reached her home, people kept coming just to ask her ‘how was the day’.

Next day morning, we went to the lake nearby. The lake is a heaven for bird watchers. We could spot Egret and Heron…….and many others……which we do not know the name. the chirping birds, the cool breeze, and the colourful flowers energized us.
