Mujhe( Meri? Mere?) Hindi Maloom(Hai? Hi? Ho? Ha!?)!!!!!

By: iruog | Posted May 06, 2010 | MAD | 1461 Views

Hi all..............

It is a truth I must accept.....I am not fluent in Hindi! OK...Please don't tease me.... Atleast I know English and Malayalam and a little bit Tamil.....But that does n't mean that I am weak in Hindi.....

When I joined MS I feared that nobody would talk to me as I don't know Hindi.... But things were different..... I have a lot of friends here though I am not confident of my Hindi.... And imagine my surprise when I met a Keralaite here!!! That was Dev Sir..... Then came a long list of Malayalis- Sajith Chettan, Paulose Ammavan, Paul Sir, Menon Sir and there goes the long list!!!!! From the title of my DP you can understand that I am 'excellent' in Hindi...;-p

But this was not the case during my school days.... Have n't you heard the proverb- Blind Leading the blind???/ I was the Hindiwala in my class.... My Father studied in Bihar and he knows Hindi very well. He has a friend their and he is from Haryana...One day, when I was 12 years old, the phone rang and I took it......

" Hello? Hello? Mera Dost ( my Father) Kahan Hai???"

I was shocked to hear some strange words..... He continued with his Hindi and I slowly gave the phone to my Mother...

" Mamma...Your friend is calling you..."

My Mother took the phone and imagine my shock when I saw her speaking in Hindi!!!! She told some " Teeke Teeke.... Aap Kon hai " and she talked for about 15 minutes!!!!

I was standing with my mouth wide open and she smiled and proudly said-

" You know? Hindi is our National Language...."

She was obviously teasing me...... We had to study Hindi in our school till our 9th standard. But believe me- I used to score nice marks for Hindi..... And to speak to my Father's Dost, I went for Hindi tuitions. And I improved too. After 1 year, I started to speak in Hindi in school.... But the result was absurd... All stopped talking to me!!!!! It was something painful...So I left Hindi and went back to English and Malayalam.. But I called my best friend ' Bandar' with all my love, as she don't know Hindi. And she loved the way I called hear that way... But my pranks came to an end.......... One day during our leisure hours, our Hindi teacher came and asked us to introduce ourselves.... My friend said....

' My name is Nikita.

I come from Trivandrum.

My Father's name is....

My Mother's name is.....

My best friend is Lakshmija.

I call her Lucky and she calls me BANDAR'R!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can imagine how our Hindi Sir laughed. After knowing the truth, she, my sweet bandar came near me....

DHAM! DHADANG! DING DONG!!! Fill in the blanks!

But I continued to be the Hindi wala and my girlfriends (!) useed to make me sing Dar de Disco from Om Shanti Om until a new girl came...She knew Hindi very well. Huh! All my glory vanished! She was a die hard fan of SRK.... So we challenged each other and tried to be the best fan of SRK.... When SRK had his elbow sugery , I went her and asked the name of the hospital...She did n't know.... So I got one point and this game continued till our tenth standard..... lolllzzzzz I won. For some days it was like HINDI= SRK.

And in MS, I used to avoid Hindi dps... Later I bought a Hindi- English dictionary and started ' deciphering the codes'....;-p Now Mujhe( Meri? Mere?) Hindi Maloom(Hai? Hi? Ho? Ha!?)!!!!! So friends, I decided to write my future comments in Hindi....... Don't gasp please.....

And caution- Don't forget Hindi after reading my Hindi......

BEWARE OF MY HINDI.....
