Life is all about the pain and gain and this is true everywhere, in business in sports and in jobs. So, one should not take things very seriously. It is easy to say but difficult to apply. Few days back I was at world Book Fair doing the things I have been doing for many years, which, now I feel, quite irritating. An aged man came to me, he must be around in his sixties, bearded, wearing white kurta pyjama and wrapped himself with a shawl. Along with him was a young foreign lady who introduced herself as a potential author. Lady was really very talented and she told about the projects on which she was working. Meanwhile, I was not the exact person she has to meet so I introduced her to one of our editor and they keep busy discussing their projects.

Suddenly, I looked toward the face of the old man, and I got a sense that I have seen him before, but where I could not guess. He was very humble and gentle person a trait that normally find in great personalities. He talked about the work that he is doing to save the water then he said that his name is Abid surti.

For few moments, I thought where I have heard this name before then a book strike in my mind and I bowed to his feet in respect and admiration. I was stood in front of a person who authored a book that helped me in one of my difficult time of life. The name of book was Daag it was a novel which was translated in Hindi from Guajarati. On that time my father was seriously ill with heart problems and life was all about the darkness- Darkness in mind in soul and everywhere. Somewhere, in that early age, I was about to lose my confidence and feeling totally vulnerable to handle the situations. In those days I got this book from the library and first I thought it would be an ordinary book but once I started turning the pages I completely hooked with it and I just gone with the story telling and relativity of the characters with my personal life. It is about the heart problems and heart transplant at the time people know very little about it. The author has created the story of doctors, nurse, patient and death so nicely that you feel totally immersed in the book.

There are many books in this world, some makes you laugh others make you cry, some enriched your knowledge but there are only few that supports you and console you in your difficult time. And I was here stood in front of the favourite author. I feel a bonding with the person that I admire and that is called the fan following, something that justifies your directions, your actions and your reactions. Some story always remains with you so are people and Abid sir is one among those whose book enlighten me in my difficult days.

Good night.
