~* In Celebration Of Being ALive *~

Now that the year is about to end, I think it's time for us to look back and see what we have achieved. It can be anything, right from the friends we made to the opportunities we missed. I believe we should never brood over what we missed, as time has the ability to give what we have lost in some way. However, I feel it is up to us to find a way out in achieving what we missed. So make sure you are ready to face the year with a new spirit and zeal to achieve all your dreams.

It is often said that Age is just a Number, for that matter few might as well say Date is a Number too! What Difference does it make? Why celebrate a Birthday or A New Year?

I realized, Celebration does make a lot of difference. I wish to share my experience with you all.

Unlike the other years of my life, the year 2011 holds great significance, it is because this year I am professionally sound. In simple words, I completed one year of service. I am happy that something constructive kept me busy this year. I work as a lecturer and while teaching the undergraduates I often feel more than my age. I realized there are kids who look up to me. I felt a sort of consciousness even when I am out. I immediately concluded that my profession is acting as a hindrance, I cannot be myself anymore.

But recently in a class activity while playing rapid fire, I was asked- ' Being a Student or a Teacher' and I instantly said 'a Teacher'. It did not take much time for me to comprehend my passion for teaching. It helped me understand myself better. I felt lucky to have that stature where there are students who look up to me for inspiration and support.

I decided I will be more sensible and help my students learn more than what the book conveys. In one such interaction, I was asked my Birthday. I lied saying it is in April, considering that it is the exam season. I felt it is pointless to celebrate Birthdays. And How silly it is to keep an update on Facebook expecting others to check that and wish you! The same day I removed my Birthday updates from every possible Social Networking site I do not have time to visit.

On the day of my Birthday, I was sure none of my friend would remember it, though deep down in some corner of my heart I was expecting it! My friends didn’t disappoint me. I am indeed lucky to have such wonderful friends who did remember it. My friends include you all too! Thanks so much for making my day special. I experienced something new this year, I realized if you are Alive, it is a celebration in itself. Life is all about cherishing such special moments and making it special for others too!

So Friends do not miss any opportunity to celebrate and I wish you many such moments in the Year ahead..! Thanks for reading!

Happy New Year !
