Jesus said husband and wife are not 2 but one(Matthew 19:5, 6). Jesus brought this mystery to light which was hidden till then. So we understand that there is a spiritual law which unites 2 people when they have sex!
Humans have a body, spirit and soul. Spirit gives mental strength to our body(Proverbs 18:14). Our character is found in our soul. After we die our spirit and soul depart our body and continue to be together all eternity. Through sexual intercourse spirit of 2 people gets united.
God brought in the institution of marriage so that families can be together, care for each other and give good environment to the children born in the family. Devil is always on the lookout to spoil the plan of God. Families which are broken allow the devil to work in the life of their children! But they think they love their children very much and cannot live without their children. The truth is they actually hate their children.
Moment we are married, we must understand that the devil is always at work to break the family. Only way to keep the family united is by not giving change to the devil to work in the family(Ephesians 4:27).
Small disagreements – the beginning
Devil starts his work of separation with small disagreements. As long as the spirits of the partners are united through regular intercourse the devil would fail to separate the partners through these small disagreements.
What we need to understand is that through these small disagreements the devil first tries to harden the heart of either of the partners. Once either of the partner’s heart is hardened, he/she would resist being united through intercourse.
Initially either of the partners would step down from his/her stand, compromise and get united again through intercourse.
As long as we get united like this the marriage is safe and we are thawing the attempts of the devil to break the family.
Prolonged disagreement – danger for the marriage
When we stick to our stand and don’t reconcile with our partners, we are ignorantly inviting the devil to break our family! Moment we harden our heart, the devil will create ill feelings against our partner and the devil would plant thoughts in our mind like our partner does not love or care so why to have sex with him/her and we continue to avoid having sex with our partner.
Once we don’t have intercourse with our partner for a long time, we are allowing the devil to take the problem to the next level(1 Corinthians 7:5).
Even now things have not gone out of control. The devil still cannot separate the family.
But to achieve his objective of separating the family, the devil has well prepared the ground for his next strategy.
Devil’s final plan – having sex outside the marriage
Prolonged disagreement between the married partners would ultimately lead to very deep hardening of the hearts of both the partners. Once this happens, the devil would tempt either or both the partners to satisfy their sexual urge with partners outside marriage.
Adultery – only way devil can break marriage
Once we have sex with a person other than our marriage partner, then our spirit gets united with the spirit of that other person(1 Corinthians 6:15,16). Once this is prolonged, devil will cause the spirit of the married partner to leave our life and the devil succeeds in his plan to break the marriage.
Adultery is the only way devil can destroy the marriage. For the devil to break the marriage it is enough for any one of the partner to have sex outside the marriage. In fact we can safely conclude that the marriage is broken because either or both the partners are having sex outside marriage.
It is because of this adultery is the only ground God allows a person to leave his marriage partner(Matthew 5:32).
To cover their adultery such will fool their families by continuing to tell the negative side of their marriage partner. But the families must understand that only adultery can cause the marriage to break. All other things can only harden their hearts.
As long as both the partners keep their body pure, devil cannot break their marriage. So we see that hardening of our hearts is just a tool for the devil to make us not united with our married partners.
If we are wise we would give up our misunderstandings for the sake of our marriage and children and get united with our partners there by not giving further chance for the devil to destroy the family.
Chicken-Egg situation
There is no point in arguing which came first. Similarly there is no point in saying I will have sex only if I love my partner. If I say I will have sex with my marriage partner only if I have love with him/her, then I am foolish because I am playing into the hands of the devil. Once we have sex with our marriage partner love automatically gets created in our heart as we are getting united in our spirits through the law created by God. After having sex we will find our heart softening on our partner and we would begin to see the positive side of our partner.
But if we continue to harden our hearts then the devil will continue to make us to see only the negative side of our partner.
How to save a broken marriage
The first thing both the partner have to do is stop having sex outside marriage. Sex is like hunger. One is bound to have desire for sex.
Start communicating with the partner and get united through intercourse as soon as possible. Once we have sex with our marriage partner our spirit would get united with the spirit of our marriage partner once again and the spirit of the person with whom we were having sex till then would leave us.
Only then a new beginning can be made and a new chapter in our married life can be written.
Divorce is not a solution
If we have ditched our marriage partner, we would continue to ditch our present partner as well after some time. The devil succeeded in our life once, it will surely succeed once again. That is why we see people who divorce continue to divorce their partner till they die.
Divorce is created by human through devil’s idea for human convenience. Bible does not recommend divorce. Bible treats divorce as adultery. That is why it teaches that once married we should not be married with another till our marriage partner dies(1 Corinthians 7:39). Christians who divorce forfeit their salvation itself! We become like any unsaved person in the world. Jesus would have no meaning in our life even though we may believe Him and pray to Him! Our place in eternity will be with those who commit adultery.
