Going through the process of searching various options for my kid , kept me out of the house a few days. During those few days I saw a new side of people I thought had improved. The same situation existed during my teens , then came the Television and with it came the awareness( I thought so!)
Taking a bus ride from one distance to another was my only option, so I had to wait in the bus stand. A bus arrives and few dash to catch it, my pace was slow as I was new to the idea of running and pushing. According to me BEST or NMMC buses arrive ,wait for the waiting crowd , let the alight and then revive the journey. Alas! that was not the case here.
Bus arrives ,stops ahead leaving the bus stop and waits for the mere mortals to run and alight!! Those who get lucky and reach there are the ones sitting in the bus, while the driver ignoring the still waiting crowd -starts the bus.A middle aged lady with a huge bag full of vegetables, pleads me to help her. I try- but till then the bus has already left the stop.We wait , the next bus arrives within minutes, again from nowhere many push and board the bus , youngsters ignoring the elders (as if they don't even care whether anybody boards the bus other than them !)
I get bolder and make myself mentally stronger to catch the next bus , by hook or by crook! I run ,reach the steps , board the bus and climb up, then call the cunductor loudly- what happens? What happened was the sitting crowd got angry with me for delaying their journey for an old lady whom I was trying to help.Nobody cared! Why nobody cared I had no idea. Isn't it human nature to help others? Why have our youngsters become so ignorant? Why are the bus drivers so rude and the conductors so unfreindly?
Its becoming a scary world out there. Those who travel by their own vehicle may not understand the gravity of this situation, but it exists and its getting worse. Money may be growing but Heart is becoming smaller and smaller!
ps.Not all youngsters are rude I have to mention this. Just an observation on my part!
