Thursday morning, a Cairo-bound EgyptAir flight from Paris with 59 passengers and 10 crew members aboard went off the radar, the airline confirmed on Twitter. The tweet read: "An informed source at EGYPTAIR stated that Flight no MS804,which departed Paris at 23:09(CEST),heading to Cairo has disappeared from radar."
Further tweets in Arabic stated that the contact was lost at 02.45 Cairo time, at an altitude of 37,000 feet(11,000 metres) when the plane was just inside Egyptian airspace.
It is suspected that the plane may have crashed into the Mediterranean sea. The flight's last known position was over Mediterranean sea, as per flightradar.com
Search and rescue operations for the missing EgyptAir plane have been initiated and information is being gathered.
