DILIGENCE IS THEMOTHER OF GOOD LUCK

All the great heights reached by human beings are merely thanks to theirfirm belief in his abilities, inquisitiveness, curiosity, constant effort andperseverance. In fact, life is action not contemplation. Man’s worth is onlydetermined by his actions. Mere brooding, lofty words and hollow promises won’tserve the purpose. Blaming ill-luck or bad luck for one’s own shortcomings andpersonal misfortunes, resulting failure is indeed baseless and unjustified.

Cursing our fate or luck for our failure to get our desired goals is akind of face saving or lame excuses. Fate itself is not the whole factor thatmakes or mars our life. Furthermore, we are the architect of our own fate. Hardwork and only hard work determines our success. It is a universal truth. Thereis no other secret of success. The proverbs like “No pains, no gains”, Nosweat, no sweet.”, “Work and thou shalt have”, “It is better to bear out thanrust out,” “ God helps those who help themselves,” speak volumes of thesignificance of labor and embody the hoarded experience of many generations, asthe best means of thriving in this world.

It isworth-mentioning that the more we work hard, the more luck we have. By sheerhard work, we can make luck favour us more and more. The harmonious blend ofboth will always bring astonishing results for us in the long run. Dr. Johnsononce said, “All the complaints which are made of the world are unjust; I neverknow a man of merit and diligence neglected; it was by his own fault that hefailed of success.” How true it is! No meritorious and hardworking man remainsunsatisfied and unrewarded. The Holy Quran says, “Man gets what he strives for”.

An interesting anecdote goes, “One day, a scholar, hearing that God haspromised for sustenance, went to jungle and sat under tree. He wanted to seehow sustenance from God comes to him without hard work. He sat there for twodays with no sign of anyone coming to him. He felt the pangs of hunger to thegreat extent. On third day, He found a person having a big plate on his handand looking for something. The learned man started coughing just to draw hisattention towards him. The person came to him and gave him food. The scholarreached the conclusion, “Sustenance from God does come but you have to coughfor it”.

To conclude, diligent, hardworking, dedicated, sincere, committed and devoted people arebound to succeed sooner or later. What we need to inculcate in our minds isthat hard work is the name of the game. It never goes in vain. It increases youluck as well.
