I remember the days when we used to get blank calls on our landline phone. The caller who probably might be a friend, an admirer, a cousin couldn’t be traced. The landlines in the good olden days had no caller id, thinking about cell phones was far behind imagination.

This was one of the common games among kids… The Blank Call game… I was influenced by a play and I often called my old neighbor and asked him ‘Buddha ghar per hai?’ This annoyed him and he was quite frustrated over the phone, I enjoyed it..! Those olden days showed no hope of the number being traced…

With the rapid development of technology from landline to pager, from landline with caller ids to cell phones there isn’t a surprise element in a call… Before we hear the voice we get see the name of the caller flashing on our cell phone screen…

In way it’s good as we can avoid a few calls but we can no longer give blank calls. I still have hopes on the telephone booths which can help the trend of blank calls going…! ;-)
