Yes! By mistake I posted this question to you. I had asked it earlier. I am very sceptical about buying a bike without a kickstart and just wanted to make sure by asking from different guys who own it. Thanks for the answer. Though I believe it will be better if we carry a battery and a clutch wire ...when on a long trup.Read More

Dude! I want to know abt the lack of kickstart in the new bike. Does it affect reliability in long rides? Would I get stranded somewhere? This is something that is preventing me from buying this bike. Bangalore gets a lot of rain and I have seen the advantage of the kickstart in such weather. And wh...at abt cold starts?Read More

I wanted to know if it is reliable enough without a kickstart. As in if you go on a long trip and get drenched in the rain....you stop for a smoke/tea....but now yr bike refuses to start....what can we do then?

My Unicorn is close to 4 yrs old, and travelled 58K kms. It doesnot have a self start. Only when it is cold in the morning I need to put the choke on. I ride the bike at a fast speed (usually 80-100kph) but not rashly. I am still getting the same mileage (47-52) as it was in its first year. Please n...ote that I didn't care about the run-in period and rode the bike with a vroooom from first day itself touching speeds close to 120kph (meter reading). I have changed the tyres at 22k, rear brake shoe at 33k, front disc oil at 40k, clutch wire at 45k and front suspension bearing twice. I always use SPEED petrol and go to a trusted mechanic (showrooms service centers are bad). It is an indestructable machine. I have travelled in knee lenght rain water with the engine underwater and came out without a problem (this happened twice). I am planning to get a new body for it soon coupled with round headlights. Please go to an experienced mechanic for your problem and also get tips on how to avoid those in the future. I think yr bike has a manufacturing defect. If you take care of the bike, it'll take care of you.Read More

Your front suspension fork needs proper oiling or may be a change in bearings. Basically a lot of wear and tear has happened in the front suspension. Go to a good mechanic. As for the tail lamp nothing can be done as I guess is broken. You may try to replace the entire back portion. It is a gre...at bike, if u take care of it, it will take care of u.Read More

Answers to yr queries: 1. You can just put a new seat cover with foam, but it will become really hot in the sun 2. No idea 3. Security system or parking inside boundary wall. 4. Dont try to replace the bulb; should not play with electrical system of the bike. 5. For battery, consult any... good auto mechanic.. 6. Battery is weak. 7. Change the disk pads ; if necessary change the entire brake system. 8. Brake fluid can be changed approx after 40k km, but depending on yr usage if the brakes are not responding well u can change anytime. 9. I have changed my bikes brake fluid and also front fork oil. No prob at all. 10. Go to any bike accessory shop and u will get what u want. RegardsRead More

Hmm. It seems you have a limited view of Rock music. Or maybe you dont listen to them at all. Rock is abstract and cannot be defined in words, and that is what the songs in this movie reflect. I have not seen the movie so cant comment on the presentation, but yes I like the music and being an ardent... 1960's and 70's rock and roll fan I can say that it is truly rock and to the core. For me Rock is about writing a poem and singing it with few instruments and letting everybody stand up and notice. You write the poem, you sing it and you only perform. Rockstars are related to drugs and sex....quite so as you go on trips, but that is not all. The music itself is the biggest trip of their life. I recommend you listen to bands like - The Who, Traffic, Jefferson Airplane, Creedence Clearwater Revival, System of a Down. And yes, if you get chance lend some ear to Bob Dylan as well (his music from the 60's only).Read More

I have few questions to all R15 lovers. 1. Is it really practical on Indian Roads for daily commuting? 2. Is it practical for someone who has a pillion rider for 70% of times? 3. Can it withstand heavy rains. I mean will it start without a kickstart if water comes till the petrol tank.? I rec...ently had this experience and my unicorn's engine was virtually under water and it passed that stretch and stopped only once and was ready after some 10 kicks. 4. Can we go for long trips (200-300km)? 5. On a long trip will an ordinary mechanic be able to repair it? 6. The plastic used doesnot seem to be very good (not even comparable to Karizma), will it give way soon? 7. Isn't the bike too small?Read More

Go to a good mechanic. If possible search your nearest Castrol bike Point and get yr bikes treated. I have a Unicorn which I bought 3 years back and it has never given me any problems. Today I finished 44k in by bike. Only changes made are Tyres (at 23k), Brakes Shoes (33k) and Front brake oil (38k).... this bike still goes to 100kph and slightly more if the road is long enough. I travel 50km daily and even during rains (it is very frequent in Bangalore) and have never faced any problem. In fact once water licked inside but after a few strokes it started and I reached home which was about 20km from that point.Read More

I just finished riding 40,000 kms on my Unicorn. It is a 2005 April Model (Black). At around 1000km I started using SPEED and it has given me better results ever since. There has been no engine problem and I ride my bike at 40 - 80kph (City) and 80 - 100kph (Highway). I have travelled 55 km at a st...retch and a return trip in the evening. You can go to any speed possible from the time you buy the bike. Just dont push the accelerator too much. It should be smooth. I still get a mileage of Av50kpl on city conditions.Read More

I have travelled 32, 400 km in my Unicorn. I bought it in April 2005. The engine still feels the same. There are few problems with the rear panels as I had 2 severe accidents. I have not change any spares except that I replaced my back tyres at 24, 000 km. And also the front suspension bairing b...Read more
