Hi Guys I own a pulsar 180 DTSI - mag wheels since June - 2005. I want to highlight the NEGATIVES of the bike. Correct me if I am wrong. The pupose of this is to discuss the cons and get soln’s if any. So I will not be talking about the pros as I agree its a VALUE FOR MONEY product. CONS ... OF PULSAR : Gas shockers (Nitrox) or Chains : They make a large CLANG sound on uneven roads\potholes. I never heard that on any other bike except the pulsars. The chain really goes loose after running say 750 kms, so it needs constant tightening. Misplaced CG : The center of gravity is a bit in front rather than in the center(not physcological). This can make u skid when taking sharp turns. If you pull the front discs while emergency braking u may topple over. I know an incident where one of my friend pulled the front brakes(he should have used both) and toppled over. Uncomfortable riding position : Try riding the bike with a pillon for 30Km and your palms and back will prove the point. Definitely not suitable for long rides. Low ground clearance : Speedbreakers may scratch the bike from below. Side stand indicator : Everytime during service i get it fixed but it lasts only for the next 2 days Reduced power by time : Month after month I get a feeling that the bike is not that crispy & fast as it was earlier. (not physcological) Beaten by dtsi-old & karizma : Truth is that dtsi-old can beat karizma but the new one cannot. Reason : They have increased the low end torque so for 0-60 new dtsi will beat dtsi-old and karizma by small margin but after that it loses badly. Top speed is in the range of 115 and takes ages to reach Gear system : They are hard, drive a honda n feel the difference. Then there are problems of false neutrals. The bike drops down one gear or goes into neutral without any warning and this can definitely make you lose the drag, not to mention the danger to your self if any other speeding vehicle is close on your tail. BAJAJ bring back the old dtsi or make a 250+ dtsi............................... Old dtsi is far better in pick up n top speed Karizma beats you. Old dtsi beats u in pickup........even the older 180 (normal) beats you in top whack. ( Matters a lot to me ) Gas shockers are dangerous, spring shockers ...are more durable. They should learn from proven tech like mono shockers in unicorn n all other race bikes use monoshockers electric start problematic in rain & cold Mag wheels get bent by a small clash or even in pits Top speed is less than 115 Exhaustec ( pick up in low gears) does not work as good as advertized. Old bikes like RX 135 / suzuki Showgun beats you. ( Shame on dtsi ) Mileage drops to 35 or so Disc brakes make squeezy noise Small in length, pillon feels uncomfortable Back pains bec of the new riding position. With a pillion behind the performance suffers dramatically. And in that situation any POPAT bike will beat u. Vibrations through the handlebar Vibrations through the Foot pecks On an uneven road the NITROX makes striking becuase the shockers touch the base VERY LOW GROUND CLEARENCE ( You will scratch paint on bumpers ) Your hands will pain if u do even 50 kms with a pillon such is the bad riding position. The riding position is crouched n does not fit taller guys. After 50 kms the engine will be so badly heated that it will send fumes as to burn your kneels near brakes/gears. Oh ya one most important thing......the gears have FALSE NEUTRALs SPARES not readily available. Paint is bad. When u go to the service guys they suggest TEFLON coating. ( Rs 400 ) Too much of R n D by the bajaj guys will spoil the pulsars. They keep testing new things on the MONEY of BUYERS. They should bring good things like REAR dics, TWIN cylinders, more brighter head lights, EST frames. DTSI tech is good but engine life goes down. They are oveloading the 180cc engine to producce 16.5 HP. Y cant they make a 250cc+ pulsar with 20 + HP...............to beat all the mean machines. Read More

Well if u were in front of me, i wud have kicked ur a**. I own the new 180dtsi for over 2months now n have done 5000Kms including trips to Masoori, Agra n more. So whatever i have stated is under stress testing of the bike. Well prove me that i am wrong in these : 1) Riding Position + Handl...e bar : I am atheletic build guy ( no backpain probs ) but still if the ride is more than 1/2 hr at a strech then i start feeling uncomfortable. Also the riding position puts all the weight of the pillon + ur weight on ur hands. Moreover the handlebar has too much friction ( dotted ) and the palms feel burning by rubbing on them. 2) The old 180 dtsi beats karizma both in accelaration n top speed but the new one cannot. 3) VERY LOW GROUND CLEARENCE. Even on the delhi roads sometimes the speed breakers scratch the bike from below. 4) Take a inchtape and measure the seat area, u fill find it shorter than most other bikes. 5) Try racing with a showgun/RX135 and he will smoke u. My point is that when bajaj can make a 180cc bike in less than 62K then y cant it bring a 250cc machine in less than 70K. If it does so then no zma/RX will ever come close. And by the way 150 outsells 180 by 90%. So if they wanted to make a performance oriented bike then y only 30 cc more ?? y not bring it to international level by making it 250 6) Gear shifting is far superior in Honda/Yamaha and even LML (I had a LML bike earlier) 7) U can confirm with many pulsarians around that the gas shockers make a striking sound on bumps. 8) The top whack of 115 takes about 18 sec now due to shorter gearing and engine draws more revs at crusing speeds so mileage has gone down. The older one took 15 sec to reach 130 !! And u seem to have a commuter personality so u r quite satisfied with the 180's present performance. I am a performance enthusiast so it falls to my expectations.Read More

Read More
