Deepimpact, I own an Accent. But if you tell me to choose between Accent and Swift Dzire i'll say Swift because Accent is now an outdated model. Maruti and Hyundai makes good cars which is affordable for the cost conscious people in India.

Sofpan, your comments may be true on some areas. Even Ford and Honda cars in India have a bad body quality. Hyundai has come a long way. It has to be appreciated. Accent is a decent car, I'm not saying the best. But in Indian conditions this is indeed one of the best. You can find proof from the... sales figures and reviews.Read More

I'm not at all a fan of the New Honda City. But this review makes a feel that it's not a true review. I don't think the City is a car of this sort. It's a much better car than what's written in this review. May be this is a problem with your particular car which can happen with any brand. Perso...nally for me Honda City is a car which has a detuned powerless engine to beef up the mileage at a high price. Lack of safety features is a big drawback for a consumer spending so much of money. But the good news is Honda has added these features fearing competition. They now understand that Indian consumers are getting more knowledgeable.Read More

It seems you have quoted directly from some magazines about Verna's handling. Let me say it's a better handler than Honda City and comparable to Aveo. Agreed, Fiesta is a better handler. Hyundai has compromised the handling part for ride comfort. Verna easily has the best ride comfort. Also Verna Di...esel has a better handling than its Petrol version. That's what almost all of the people who have driven Verna has said. It's easily the most VFM car. Those are only particular about performance shouldn't look for the Verna. For comfort, performance, fuel efficiency (for CRDi) and lower maintenance costs its the Verna. My suggestion is that Hyundai should add the ESC (Electronic Stability Control) rather than tweaking the suspensions compromising ride comfort. And hyundai generally makes cars for practicality rather than racing. For racing make a tweak on the Verna as all rally cars does. No car is 100% perfect. Read More

Very bad review. Only the feelings and looks of the car. Not at all practical review..........

Honda City should be the choice if FE is the only criteria. Resale values of every cars have taken a plunge of 40% including the City according to a latest study conducted by Business Standard. It's saying a two year old Accent is available for 3.25 - 4.5 lakhs and a City for 3.5 lakhs which means t...he Accent has a higher resale value when new car prices are taken into account. Don't know how much authentic the study is. If you're looking beyond FE then Verna is definitely worth checking. It has got more features including safety features of ABS and all round disk brakes as optional. Performance in real world driving should be better for Verna. Flat out acceleration is better for Verna while the in gear acceleration is not much according to Autocar. But that can't be trusted fully. We have to check that by ourselves. In short if you're driving only in city then the Honda City is ofcourse the best choice in the segment. If you're driving single and need performance then it's the Fiesta if you dont mind the higher maintenance costs. In between the two lies the Verna with performance less than Fiesta and better than City and mileage more or less similar to Fiesta and Aveo and lesser than City. For interior space and ride comfort many people are reporting that Verna beats both Fiesta and City. Refinement of Verna Petrol is also best in the segment. Verna CRDi is below Fiesta TDCi in two things i.e. FE and Refinement but the margin is not very high. Rest for everything the Verna CRDi just knocks out Fiesta TDCi.Read More

Well Nayakan that was a good review. I have a hyundai accent gle and trust me its a troublefree car. So will be the Verna sure...... I was thinking of exchanging my Accent with Verna but the reviiew given by Autocar that the 3rd gear acceleration of Verna (20-80) was less than City. From your ...review its clear thats not the case. I'm asking real owners before making a decision. Mileage also you can expect more than what Autocar has given, though wont be quite upto Honda City. Congratulations on your purchase and have a nice time with your new car. Read More

Well yes, the hyundai brand is definitely not upto the honda brand image. But there is a scene of change from the last few years. Hyundai has established itself very well in India with huge investments and a mammoth increase in production. As per Autocar October 2006 the Verna petrol can be a com...petition for Honda City due to these factors: 1. Better performance 2. Interior space comparable or even slightly ahead of City but rear seats are comfortable for City than the Verna. 3. Ride comfort also comparable to the City. Also the Verna is better equipped than City for features like optional ABS and rear disc brakes, Automatic Climate control in XXi variant and a good safety feature impact sensing door lock opening system which is really needed these days. Autocar havent tested the mileage figures. But certain agencies here in Cochin has given an average mileage (City & highway combined) of 15.5 kms/l to the Verna Petrol which is very much comparable to the City. I guess after about 2 months we can get a clearer picture.Read More

Its quite sure that Verna Petrol wont be that sharp as Fiesta 1.6. But how do you rate it against the Aveo and City?

To inform you I'm not biased towards any vehicle. But Indian public has a lot of wrong perceptions about hyundai unlike people of other countries especially from USA, Singapore and now even from Europe. Hyundai is getting some fantastic responses in the recent future in many countries. I was surp...rised to see your review when you mentioned it has got minimalistic safety features. Well it has got many. The doors lock will be opened once there is an impact. Remember what happened to a Honda City which got fire in an accident. The central lock jammed and two people perished. You cannot know about a hyundai car or any car only when you own one and experience one. Making just one test drive and recommending NO is a bit too much. I've submitted my vehicle report after a long period of driving. I've mentioned both positives and negatives. No car will be 100% perfect. I ofcourse agree that the Verna doesnt look exciting both inside and outside. But it doesnt look offensive too. 2043 Vernas sold in first five days after launch is an indication of that.Read More

Well the review from you doesn't match with lots of others especially from the auto experts. Even if the features are stripped down the features still match the Fiesta Diesel. Resale value of City may take a plunge from now on. Spending so much money for a non performing car like City is absurd.... Honda is exploiting Indian people too much with the 'Honda' badge. They got to stop it now. I guess you test drove the vehicle with predetermined negative impressions about hyundai.Read More

Is it a too much hyped review? The door factor (closes with a solid thud) can be seen in Fiat vehicles as well as in Optra, Corolla, Elantra etc.
