Hi Heream, Mid-June would be kind of off season. Tariff for a good decent room would range from Rs. 750/- to Rs. 1,500/- for a day. You can have 3 people staying in it. No idea friend - Avasant. Yes I have also heard a lot about Maneklal Terrace, but have no idea whether he still operates the hotel. Are you planning to visit now.. If yes, then this is complete off season time.

Yes. It is very safe to park your car at Dasturi. You can enquiry with the locals out there, they will guide you better, but safety is not a problem.

Nice information.... You have given a actual moment of moment account of your experience... You gave me a virtual tour of the hill station. Infact i was planning my trip this time but went to Matheran but my next trip will certainly be Mahabaleshwar and in MTDC only.

Hello.... Srnair... One has to get down at Neral station. Neral Station is about 80 to 90 Kms from Mumbai as well as Pune.... You can come by train or road to Neral... Hi...... Sorry friend I completely disagree with you.... Your experience must have been bad. Otherwise Matheran is the best place to be.. Your views are correct. But, you have to look at the finer points... Yes, the local are at time annoying but you (tourist) are the only source of little income ...for them... They don't cheat you. they can only annoy you.... You have to be careful and chose your hotel correctly.... The beauty is maintained by keeping the vintage look intact... Any commercialisation and entry of vehicles would destroy the beauty of Matheran and make it like metro cities......Read More

Hi..... I had been to Matheran just 5 days after your visit... I visited Hope Hall to review the hotel for my next visit.... I am not convinced with the reviews that you have given..... Firstly I found the lady at the hotel someone like Urmila in Kaun.... Somewhat scary,,,, would you agree....... though my wife has other views..... The rooms are big but dusty.... old paints and very dull..... I want to take my parents and cousins along during the Diwali season.... It is really a good place to stay.... because the costs are very very reasonable....Read More
