This is the first & last time I am going to use OYO . I mean, I couldn't have had a worse experience in all my life. Yesterday, I booked 3 rooms for my cousin+ his friends(in all 6 guests) at OYO Jaisalmer Fort(Hotel Shiv Shahi Palace) for 1 night(5th-6th March.) This is how it went. At 19...Read more

INDIA ARE WORLD CHAMPIONS

Apr 04, 2011 10:13 PM (Updated Apr 04, 2011 10:15 PM)

The World Cup Yes, India won the WC after 28 years. So it’s an extremely ’’emotional’’ moment for the cricket fans. As usual, the media overkill will make sure we won’t forget it for the next 28 years. Dhoni, the best captain? Debatable point. When 60 to 70% of your team clicks, you are definit...ely hailed as the ’’greatest’’ or ’’best’’ captain, Just as Ricky Ponting was one of the great captains of Oz. The Oz team was unbeatable coz of they had Matt Hayden, Adam Gilchrist, Mike Slater, Damien Martyn, Mike Bevan, Andy Symonds, Glenn McGrath, Jason Gillespie, Brett Lee, Damien Fleming & Shane Warne. Now that they have all gone, the Oz team is suddenly looking very ordinary. Same Ponting but different team mates. IMHO, the India-England tie & the Ireland-England match were the best matches. Andrew Strauss’ gritty run chase stands out & Kevin O’Brien’s knock is the stuff legends are made of. Gautam Gambhir deserved the MoM more than Dhoni. And Virat Kohli gets my Best Supporting MoM, award. In all the hype & hoopla about Tendulkar & Dhoni & the win, everybody seems to have forgotten their contribution in resurrecting the Indian innings. Remember, most had switched off their sets after Tendulkar got out expecting a repeat of a dozen similar situations in the past. The media overkill as usual focused on Dhoni, Sachin etc. Dhoni in his post match speech with Ravi Shastri was quite churlish in saying “tough luck” to Gambhir about not getting his ton. Neither did he, unlike Sangakkara, have a kind word to say about the opposition. Even Ponting did acknowledge that India outplayed Oz in the semi-finals. Dhoni is extremely lucky that his batting clicked in this match. He has been in woeful form for nearly more than a year now. And let’s not forget Gary Kirsten’s contribution in forging the team into a cohesive unit. Just imagine if India had lost, the same media would have torn Dhoni & the team apart. For once, everything went right for IndiaRead More

@Abish1, Quite a compact review & congrats on the ROD. I've flown Sahara, IA, KF, Jet, Indigo, Spice & Go. KF & Jet are full fare so no complaints there. KF Red (erstwhile Deccan Air), Sahara leave much to be desired. IA is, well, a govt. airline. So don't expect much. Go is the worst! Indigo & S...pice rock among the LCCs. The only issue I have with Indigo are the number of flights. Spice scores over them in this respect.Read More

Viren, Nice review. Instead of driving try taking the ferry to Mandwa/bus to Alibag. Kids will love the ride! Ferry runs from Radio Club (used to run from Gateway before 26/11, they have moved it to RC end) AC ferry costs Rs 110/- (by PNP & Maldar) & Rs.80 (non-AC by Maldar.)

Dude, You don't even seem to know what instrument you have invested in. Is it a SIP investment of a particular scheme in HDFC MF or a ULIP scheme of HDFC Standard Life? They are two different financial products of two different organisations - one a mutual fund & the other an insurance company. You... are ranting about a 3 year lock in & admin charges etc These are features of a ULIP & not of an MF scheme. An MF scheme has an entry (now abolished) / exit load & any investment in a MF is subject to (stock)market risks. I suggest that you first study the financial instrument that you want to invest in & take an informed decision or seek professional advice. If you want to get rich quick, try your friendly neighbourhood gambling adda!Read More

Hello Deepak, This is one program that you can actually sit through & watch. My major grouse is that not one song is played fully. I long to hear at least one played fully, but sadly, that is not to be & you get only teasers....And those long ad breaks, sigh! Otherwise, a excellent program. Highl...y recommended to all music lovers - to the older generations for the nostalgia & unforgettable melodies & to the newer generations for how music ought to be. Regards Mail2Mac Read More

Hey, Shalu, I'm a kinda discerning kind of movie goer (?)(ha,ha, LOL!). Maybe I shouldn't have too many expectations from the kind of movies that are made nowadays. Well, I guess each to his/her own....

One more.... Interview Panel (interviewing an accountant): How much is 2 plus 3? Candidate (who is ex-Arthur Andersen): How much do you want it to be? Good ones, Deepak. Especially, ’’they want 15% to keep quiet.’’ Shows we are human after all. LOL!

If you can, get a DVD & watch the movie starring Albert Finney as Hercule Poirot. A great star cast including Sean Connery, Lauren Bacall etc. I guarantee that you will revise your rating.
