Hard disk crashed in 35 days of purchase

Now, I have got my laptop back from HP service centre BUT to my surprise, I find that the performance for the graphics has reduced by 3 times. There is a performance check tool in the VISTA HOME PRemium which comes with the laptop where i checked when I had bought as a brand new piece and it showed ...the graphics performance as 3.9 but now after the change in hard-disk its showing 1.0!!! The laptop (HP Special edition that i possess) comes with nVidia GE graphics card which is supposed to be the best for Graphics/ multimedia/ DVD etc . So I checked the DEVICE MANAGER and found that the driver for this graphics card was not installed. So i had the driver and tried to install but it would accept as if HP Service centre has removed this card for which i payed extra money since similar laptop without this card is about Rs9000 cheaper!!! So i contacted the Service centre and told that i have just got the laptop and this is the problem. They said we cannot do anything!! and please contact the TOLL FREE numbers!!! I am surprised that if the same service centre who changed the hard disk and damaged this graphics card or removed it altogather tells me to go the toll free numbers. I do not know WHY it crashed! HP first said the hard-disk will be replaced in 2 days but then they said the spares are not available in India and will have to be imported which will take 10 to 15 days. I am totally stuck...all my important data has gone, Nothing to recover from the crashed hard-disk.... I feel like i have lost everything. It may be good for people who use only few applications or buy laptop just to possess one Otherwise YES you are correct it is waste to put your money in such laptops, then take transfer your data from old laptop and lose all data! I asked HP for a temporary laptop to be given till the time my laptop is repaired but they do not have one. My dealer told that HP has many such complaints and they will not be able to give a spare laptop for few days. My dealer infact told me not to buy HP but I got hooked by the advertisement and looks!Read More
