Just went through a similar ordeal yesday advising me a MRI for same reason what you had. I accepted their demand and ended up as a laughing stock with other hospital while re-checking.

I asked the bank sales team who replied that DB had paid price for checked fares which is untrue. I had to send a screen shot showing it was only for spcial fares which price is only 250 rupees one way!

Tickets were part of welcome gift. When i took the card prices were high but when i paid the money to bank prices had come down. I never said bank is responsible for price fall. But bank should not recover 5k while paying 1k for same tickets to Jet Airways.
