i am not quite your technical guy...but my experience till date has been that it reads the pdf stock i have...and i get all my books from various sources online...but to add to the earlier response, text reflow is no good in portrait mode but real good in landscape mode...unlike kindle pi offers onl...y two direction modes... as for the battery, it has been more than a week since i charged last and i have been listening to music too...and it has more than 50% of battery left...but if you use it for just reading @4-5hours a day, it should still last for nearly a weekRead More

I am not quite your technical guy but most of the pdf files i get and have loaded into my pi are from various sources on the net. i am not at all sure of password protected files..because till date i haven't had problems with the pdfs i have. To add to what i have mentioned in my earlier response t...he text reflow of these files, despite infibeam's claims, is not too good in portrait mode but good in landscape mode.it is just a matter of getting used to reading that way. as for the battery, it lasts more than a week at least as of now, if you just use pi for reading and not play music along...Read More

hi pravin i am not sure of .chm but pi supports html as well as native pdf along with txt doc epub rtf mob prc and jpg as well as mp3 files which anyway is not such a big deal. it has inbuilt Adobe reader mobile. pi claims you can read comics, probably as jpg images though i haven’t tested it yet.... I have uploaded only one pdf file to check because most of my books are in kindle..and the reflow is better than in kindle basically because Kindle though claims to support native pdf but it requires pdf texts to be converted to mobi format for better text reflow...I acquire most of books online...and i haven’t found any issues till date copying them to my Kindle and there should be none with PI too. As for the battery it is a li-polymer and should be available easily in market if a need arises to replace it. One more advantage which Kindle 1 had, is the external memory slot supporting upto 4gb using which one can load a few music albums if one is used, like me to listen to some music while reading!Read More
