I have this penchant for changing mobiles every once in a while.of late I have moved from buying high end mobiles to low end sub-10k gadgets. my most recent is this nokia's pretentious phone, x3-02. I really fell for the looks and boy what a fall it has been. I rarely buy a mobile without going through the reviews but for once I did it without doing so and well apart from flaunting a fashionable looking mobile, I haven't really felt comfortable using it and that too a mobile whose interface is lot worse than other low end/mid range mobiles.
NO-KI-YEAH: There was a time when I wouldn't look beyond Nokia but after N series I started drifting towards other mobiles, particularly Samsung. and now I realize after again deciding to romance a Nokia why these guys are losing their market hold so fast and people are saying no more than yeah to Nokia! n8 might have saved their day but I don't see why Nokia should remain the market leader for long.
MAJOR FLAWS:
x3-02 comes out as a beauty with no brains. the dual access is not a bad idea but the lack of on screen shortcuts even within the GOTO option is terrible. For example if you want to clear the call list, you go into menu>call logs>clear call lists>clear all and you are done.oh! how convenient! talking of more no brainers, you have to tweak the settings so that, even though the WiFi is on, the packet data does not get used up.this leads to the phone asking you every time if you wish to use WiFi or packet data. How annoying that can be! Battery life is a shade above average unlike earlier nokias. And yes a 5mp camera is there but the less I talk about it the better. no flash support no auto focus! The ovi store is there of course, but compared to apple and android, it is a joke!
MINOR BENEFITS:
X3-02 is a 3g enabled phone with WiFi and Bluetooth(no surprises here, every other mid level phone offers these later two!) The dual access also benefits people who don't find touch type very comfortable. There is no virtual keypad on the phone anyway! The looks as I mentioned are good. An aluminum back panel and the white keypad(that is the one I bought) gives it a distinctive stylish look but once you get to the brass tacks, boy they prick like anything!
CONCLUSION:
If you go for looks and your primary purpose is only for calls, go ahead flaunt it. Or else turn away and try some other phone unless of course you are a die hard Nokia fan.
