Before I start, may I admit that this is not a tribute to Hrishi da. It is a mere acknowledgement of his sheer genius, his instinctive knowledge of the behaviour of humans and society. His knack for being able to give a natural and fresh outlook to the most mundane and ordinary of happenings and...Read more

hi raj, i think just like harry potter, your reviews too, manage to get a lot more attention than sometimes warranted (just kiddng...) i agree with your views in essence but wouldnt have expressed them so vioently if it was me (then again, this is you review and you have all the world's freedo...m...) but recently i saw him with sajid khan on 'sab kuch ho sakta hai' and kind of changed my opinion about him a bit...he's a really down-to-earth person, no airs (though he doesnt rerally have a reason to give himself airs...) and he was quite polite, good natured and all of that... but yes, talking about music, i think he's just amazingy hyped.but have you heard some of his songs in humraaz and all? must say they sounded very un-himesh reshamiya like... moral of the story is that his songs, at least those coming out now are both monotonous and absolutely lack melody great review...hope you're making a comeback love saumya P.S: as for that 'nasal' sound, i think by far, only k l saigal ever made it seem impressive...Read More

hello preran, a well written review, i must say. but i'm very convinced that despite all her singing prowess, lataji has not had the power to make or break a film.ever. apart from that i'm not convinced with your part about how versatile she is...i judge versatality in the kind of feel you giv...e to the song. i've heard some of asha's marathi certain really old hindi numbers in which you can never figure out who's sung the song. why, take the recent bhoot title song. can lata ever do something like that? i feel the siblings must not be compared. lata has her own charm and melody that no one in this world can second but to label her as being versatile (more than usual) would be unfair. as to another fact that has secretly tarred her otherwise controversy-free image is her tantrum with music directors and fellow singers. O P Nayyar and Mohd Rafi are examples. but both of them existed and flourished amazingly despite earning Lataji's wrath. because there was talent and persistence and contacts in the industry. however, according to hearsay (from some quite informative sources) lataji was responsible for the death of suman kalyanpur in the hindi film industry.and with good reason. anyway, this is not to undermine lataji's talents at all. because no one has the right to challenge anything eternal and beautiful. saumyaRead More

hullo raj, see how i'm taking the pains to comment consecutively on 2 of your reviews...(hav never done that before) jus goes to show how much i liked them i heard and saw a lot of what was happenin in mumbai those days and my family being there too, i was concerned (also cos i've been in mumb...ai myself for a long time) what i wanna know is- how many people thought of writing anything about the tsunami disaster of last year? oh, i know it was here, there and everywhere and u'd probably say it doesnt merit any more publicity but, doesn't it?you havent the least idea of the sprit of chennai...you have even lesser idea of the extent of destruction during those days, and even now... sorry, if this got slightly offensive...i didnt intend to sound like i was blaming you-jus tat we cant ever review something like this... if evr i get too inspired i mite choose to write on the tsunami... love saumya Read More
