Image Size*
This product I purchased in August 2008. It was costing Rs.9000 at that time.(Now it will cost around 4000 bucks if it is still in market) Through 12 mega pixel image gives good results. If you want to enlarge a picture to use as wall paper this is best size. The picture quality is really good. Image stabilisation function is however not there. It is a big drawback. Flash is also not so great.(But if you go to manual settings, which I tried after 3 years, you can still take very good pictures in low light. I tried to take pictures of moon in the month of march when it was close to earth. I could mark the details on moon surface. The image quality is so good)
Storage
I tried couple of videos at night. under bright light the image quality is really good. It can also record sound along with image in picture mode and of course video mode. Using SD card is better. It can support up to 2 GB memory SD card.(Though this is not big space, you can still store 1 hour video recording and around 300 images). Built in memory is only 64 MB.(So make your memory card as default storage. This option is available) So I generally set the image at 6 or 9 mega pixel to accomodate more images. If you want to see the photos on 42 LCD you can still get good quality on 6mp mode.
CD for picture/movie edit
The accompaning CD for software is also useful. I could sort and edit my photos, improve their lighting and sharpness. You don't need to be computer savy for that. It is lot of fun. You get connecting cord and cable along with the camera. But if your system have SD card slot, you can directly copy it.
Charger and batteries
Some dealers are giving battry charger along with rechargeble batteries. Others generally don't give. However, it is always better to insist for charger. When you use flash, the batteries get discharges in 20 shots. Prolonged viewing of LCD consumes more battry power. So, don't spend much time on views in LCD. Better to go for rechargeble battries. There is AC adopter plug. You can use it if you need. That saves lot .
Cost
I guess the cost is very economical. It should not cost more than 5K. For 12 mp camera it is not a bad deal.
Other Functions:
You can take good quality videos(.mov) you can take multiple still shots, panorama is best one you can have, red eye reduction, almost 16 modes of different situations that helps you to take pics. this is very good. I started enjoying the piece more as I used it and you keep experimenting.
