Zoomcars is a self drive car rental company having operations in Bangalore and Pune. They offer a variety of cars for rent both on hourly and daily basis.
I was in Bangalore for a day and needed a vehicle. Bookings happen on their website https://zoomcar.in/. Before booking I had to create an account an upload my driving license(even a photo taken from mobile is acceptable). This was not a problem.
They I proceeded for booking. Their website shows vehicle availability by the hour and it was very helpful. The site also calculates charges as per details entered by you. You pay these charges and you get a booking id through sms and email along with a number of the centre you have booked from. They have many offices in Bangalore and you can choose where to pick your vehicle from. I chose the airport where they have a pickup facility. They will pick you up from the airport and drop you back on your way, free of charge. Awesome way to delight a customer.
I landed in Bangalore at 11.00 PM and the vehicle was at hte airport. We drove down to their office which was a ten minute drive. another ten minutes doing paperwork and understand features of the vehicle and I could drive off. A suggestion to zoom here that they should put up clear boards else it is difficult to spot their office.
Next day at the appointed time, I drove the car to their parking bay in their office. They performed a quick check, entered it into a tablet whcih took about five minutes. They also dropped me to the airport. The security deposit of Rs. 5000/- was credited back in 2-3 days.
The overall experience was very smooth and staff was courteous and helpful.
Note: They bear the fuel cost up to 240 kms per day. This is really a cost effective scheme if you are travelling outside the city. In my case since most of the driving happened in the city, I had only consumed 89 kms.
Overall I would strongly recommend Zoom. They have a variety of cars to choose from, friendly staff and hassle free service. They have no competition whatsoever and still have chosen not to screw the customer with frivolous charges.
