During this period, the company became the second largest smartphone company after Samsung. This Chinese company has been expanding its portfolio continuously to go top. After launching the flagship Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 and Android One handset Xiaomi Mi A1(review) in the last few months, the company has now brought the new Redmi Y series for the youth. Through this series, Shawmi wants to give customers a self-centered product. The initial model of the series is Xiaomi Redmi Y1. On paper, its specification is good . But is it worth your first choice? Let's know.

Xiaomi Redmi Y1 Design

After seeing Shawmi Redmi Y1, it can be said with confidence that the impression of the Shaomi family is clearly visible. If you sit at first glance, then it will not be shocking. Take the phone in hand and you will realize that it is bigger than Shomey Redmi 4. It has a 5.5 inch display. At Radmi Y1, you will find 16 megapixel front camera with selfie flash. There are capacitive touch buttons for navigation at the bottom of the screen.

This phone with 153 grams is quite light and to keep weight, Shaomi has used plastic. Chrome Highlights give a feel to being metal back plat. But rear and edge are made of plastic. Power and volume buttons are also plastic. The 13-megapixel primary camera and flash top is on the edge and the fingerprint sensor has a place in the middle. The scanner position is convenient. On the left side there is a SIM tray. You will get 2 Nano SIM slots. Apart from this, there is a separate slot for the MicroSD card to increase the storage.

At the bottom, there is a MicroSB port, while on top the IR Blaster, there is Secondary Mike and Headphone Jack for Noise Cancellation. We liked the build quality of Redmi Y1 Shaomi has used good quality plastic which gives a feeling of premium. The retail box of the handset is simple. The box has a SIM ejector tool, a 10-watt charger and a micro-USB cable.

Xiaomi Redmi Y1 specification and feature

To accelerate this phone, the company has used the Snapdragon 435 processor. This processor has been used in Xiaomi Redmi 4(Review). The clock speed of this octa-core processor is 1.4 GHz. Redmi Y1 has two variants. Comes with a 3 GB RAM and 32 GB of storage. At the same time, the other is with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. Whether you choose any variant. You have the facility of using the microSD card up to 128 GB.

This phone's 5.5 screen HD is 720x1280 resolution. 2.5D Curved Corning Gorilla Glass For Protection The key feature of Radmi Y1 is the 16 megapixel front camera, which is equipped with selfie flash. In the market there are very few censored sensors on the front panel. The phone becomes more attractive due to the front flash. There is 13 megapixel sensor with PDAF and F / 2.2 aperture on the rear part.

Radmi Y1's battery is 3080 mAh. It is very rare compared to the 44 mAh battery of Shaomi Redmi 4. Shaomi Redmi Y1 has Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi 802.11b / g / n, GPS, A-GPS and GLONASS for connectivity. Accelerometer, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, electronic compass, hall sensor and gyroscope are part of it. Both SIM slots do 4G and VOLTE support. But at the same time only one SIM will be able to use the 4G network.

We got a variant of 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage for review. It was running on the MUI 9 Beta based on Android Noaga. There are many new features in MIUI 9. Beginners buyers of Radmi Y1 will get the MUI 8. The stable version of the MUI 9 will be available in the coming weeks. The UI will be updated, but it is unclear whether Shomi will update the version of Android. If you have used the first UI, then the updated user interface will be easily understood. But if you have brought stock Android or any other skin, then it will take some time for you to become complacent. The interface of the settings has changed to a lesser extent and the MUI handles app permissions in a slightly different fashion. As soon as you become familiar with this user interface, you will be able to pay a MiUI.
