Xiami Mi3 latest mobile phone from Xiami is available exclusively on flipkart and being sold out in just a few seconds on each weekly lot. I got it in second sale on 12th feb and flipkart delivered in reasonable time. Thanks to flipkart and SBI for additional 10% cash back:-)
I read a lot of review before buying it as I rarely change phones and generally use one for 2-3 years so didn't wanted to end up with inferiour quality phone as money was no bar. I was very curious about the MIUI interface as heard a lot of praises for it. I had used samsung's touchwiz, sony's xperia and not much impressed with either one. I liked the stock andriod on moto-G / nexus phones. After looking the specs and numerous reviews, I decided to give it a try. Many complained about extremely hard sim card slot, well I found it to be alright, just a little push and it came out nicely.
AWESOME:
Build quality is superb, much better than samsung, sony, htc phones. Design clues are definitely from apple devices(I love apple product's designs) and very smooth and superfine design. Everything from ear piece, speaker grill, microphone holes, camera and LED sockets are just perfect and supremely designed. Super happy!
Hardware is super fast.enough has been already said about snapdragon 800. No lags whatsoever even after so many apps being installed.
MIUI interface: this is the king of all andriod skins. Very very nice looking easy to use. A lot of thought has been given on usability. a. Lot of themes(free) are available which can change the entire look and feel of the phone.one will never get bore of it. b. Tons of options to customize, still learning. c. There is an option to auto activate battery saving mode on scedules time, where it shuts off everything except mobile network. Very useful, as we rarely use our cellphone in night time except may be some emergency call? d. Useful tools are built into the MIUI. There is virus scan, ram cleaner, block list manager, torch app etc.quite convenient.
GOOD:
Screen is very good. Full HD with good color reproduction.Touch response is very good.
Camera is very good and super fast. good for taking pictures of kids who are ever moving. Haven't tried the video camera yet. Picture quality is good.
Battery backup is decent with all time 3G, wifi ON and 1-2 hrs of games, 30 min talking, 30 min internet browsing, I was able to get 1.5 days, before it went to red line. very good I must say.
No serious heating issues faced as many have claimed.
Call quality is very good. External speaker is not very loud but good for my liking.
NOT SO GOOD:
phone is a little big to my liking and boxy design with sharp corners doesn't help either. Difficult to hold in hand and slippery back surface made it even worse. Mobile Case is a must I got Pudini leather flip cover which is excellent quality and fits perfectly.(They have even reduced the price and it is excellent bargain now.
Phone does feel a little light for its size. I agree its a good thing to be light but does feel a bit cheap if you ask me. Same weight would have felt much better on a slightly smaller size. I guess I am asking too much here:-)
NOTE:
Many people claims that it charges very slowly.well, I looked closely and found that its charger is rated to output 2000 mA of current whereas it is 1000 mA for most other phone charges I have used.(Only nexus 7 tab chargers was rated 2000 mA). So I guess it is due to large battery(>3000 mA) in the phone. Hence charging with 1000 mA chargers will not be enough and hence longer charging time. Use the supplied charger and you should be fine.
