Debacles of 2013

The year 2013 has witnessed lot of star studded movies which tanked at the box office. These movies went from most awaited to most ridiculed post their release. While critics bashed them, even the audience couldn't save them.

Here's my list of 10 such movies:

Besharam

It was a reason enough that Rishi Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor cast in the same movie to drag me to the theater. My smile turned into a frown watching this movie, it was a bad book with a good cover. I'd blame this mainly on the production. No story and bad screenplay, unexpected from the Dabangg director.

Himmatwala

I wonder what made Ajay Devgn choose this project. He's better than that. The movie is disappointing from the start, you hope for it to get better but it doesn't. Incredible actors like Paresh Rawal, Mahesh Manjrekar and Ajay Devgan wasted. Only Sajid Khan could do that.

Boss

It was definitely not a good year for Akshay Kumar. No stone left unturned in the movie promotions. Had that effort been used in the movie production and story, it could've been better. And a humble request – Please don't spoil good songs. Appidi pode and Har Kisi ko nahi milta, both were bad.

Gori Tere Pyaar Mein

Another example of a well promoted but bad movie. The first half of the movie is still watchable, second half gets really boring. Its the expensive ticket that makes you sit through the movie than the movie itself. Imran Khan seriously needs acting lessons. Bad boy turned good romcom mantra doesn't work anymore. Kareena couldn't save the movie either.

Once Upon A Time in Mumbai Dobaara

Only thing that worked for the movie was the song – Ye tune kya kia. Another song that lost its authenticity was Tayyab Ali, original was definitely better. The story wasn't even half as interesting as its prequel. Even the cast, performance and dialogues couldn't match up to the first movie.

Aatma

Such horror movies should be promoted as comedy, but then too it'd flop. Even fine actors  like Nawazuddin Siddiqui can make mistakes. Mistake of choosing this movie. Although named Aatma, the movie lacked spirit. The effort to make it look scary showed. Even the emotional angle, a mother trying to save her daughter from the dead father fails. Its a debacle in short.

I, Me aur Main

John with his cute smile wasn't enough for the movie. The only person who can act “Chitrangada Singh” had no role. Prachi Desai should stick to the coy girl image. All this bindaas attitude doesn't suit her. The characters looked so weak and unconvincing especially John's. The character didn't have a mind of his own, incapable of making his decisions. Bad performance, bad story, sloppy movie.

Policegiri

More than a south movie remake, this movie looked more like Wanted(2009)'s remake with Sanjay Dutt as the wanna be Salman. I like Sanjay Dutt but honestly the movie was bad and not to mention disappointing. Sanju baba is better as the gunda and I hope he sticks to that.

Zila Ghaziabad

This movie should have a tagline saying – Enter at your own risk. The movie is supposedly inspired from real-life incidents, yet looks unreal. And the background music is so loud that you can have a headache. The movie didn't even have a good trailer.

Zanjeer

Every single person involved in the making of this movie should personally apologize to whoever has seen it. Rule number one, you don't remake a classic if you can't do justice to it. Casting a newbie for Amitabh Bachchan - that's strike one. Then you tweak the movie badly,  strike two. Strike Three - Priyanka Chopra as Mala, Sanjay Dutt as Pran, Mahie Gill as Mona Darling and Prakash Raj as Lion are all cold. Even if you don't compare it to the original, the movie is spineless.
