I was jus going through mouthshut, when I came across a review on Woodrose club in Bangalore. I couldnot stop myself in sharing my experience. So here I go.
One fine Saturday morning a friend of mine had come to Bangalore from Delhi. We had the whole day to ourself, before he had to push to his place in the evening. We called up a couple of other friends and decided to go for bowling at Amoeba in Leela Palace. When we were about to leave, one of the other friend called us up and asked us to come to Woodrose club, instead. Apparently he had taken a membership only a day before. We asked him if we needed to be any specific attire, to which he said it is not an issue. We asked this, because of one prior experience long back. So we both left for this place in floaters and the other friend joined us in shorts.
After driving a long distance, we finally reached the place.(Mind you, the last leg to this place is really bad) From the outside the place looked decent. There were few games like Billiards, Chess, TT, badminton, squash etc. We thought we will spend some time playing billiards before hitting the bar. We reached the room, but were told that we need to book a table a day in advance at least. We decided let us try our hand at Squash, but since we were not in proper attire we were not allowed. Same for badminton and TT.
We decided it is not worth it, and we are good only to hit the bar. We moved towards the bar, but on entering we were told that you cannot enter the bar in shorts. We spoke to the manager to relax at least this rule, but he could not help. Mind you this was when this guy had taken the membership a day before and still not made the payment. We argued that one can understand if in this attire we are not allowed to play, but what is the problem in going to bar?
We were totally frustrated. Actually the guy who got us there was very embarrased. He said I will go some near by shop and buy a pajama and come quickly. Though we didn't like the idea much, but he insisted. So we went to the bar and ordered some beer. After this guy came back, we thought we will move to the restaurant area, because the place was already getting crowded and it would have been difficult to get a table later. When me moved there, we were told that the tables were reserved. We asked him to serve the lunch in the bar area(which is attached with no partition as such). They as usual refused as it was against their rules.
We finally decided to call the place quits. My friend cancelled the membership the very next day.
Mind you the membership is not any paltry amount. It is over 3.0 Lacs. What a waste of money!
